The BEST cold weather costume piece!GMC wrote:gosh, i wish i worked in fantasyland, those things look hardcore warm, our courduroy coats at indy are next to useless, the female coats look nice though, but their jackets are heavy shirts, no linning, and no good against the cold. and the univeral pea coats on steam strains, those are good news, too bad i can't wear them at indy.

well on alcatraz its foggy 300 days outta the year and the wind chills you to the bone...its even worse when its raining in fall and winter...the temp drops to the low 40s sometimes and all they give us is a fleece or a windbreaker... there are a few "heavy jackets" and everyone fights for those...
i usually lose...people always expect the so cal weather in SF and u can usually tell a tourist by their bright jackets and sweatshirts that say " I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO"...
:D

[WAY THE HELL OFF TOPIC] Just by coincidence I just finshed watching the movie "Murder in the First" About a guy in Alcatraz who killed an inmate after spending three years in solitary. Good Flick. [/WAY THE HELL OFF TOPIC]

Yeah I'm really glad that we have the wool jackets but it sucks when it rains. Because we're stuck outside so much, they absord a lot of water and they get soooo heavy the rain gear doesn't cover them and they smell like wet dog.GMC wrote:gosh, i wish i worked in fantasyland, those things look hardcore warm, our courduroy coats at indy are next to useless, the female coats look nice though, but their jackets are heavy shirts, no linning, and no good against the cold. and the univeral pea coats on steam strains, those are good news, too bad i can't wear them at indy.

so i hear, it's been dry the whole 5 months i've been working here, so i only have the stories of other to know how to dress, i hear though, that if you wear thermal underwear and just the normal jacket, it's not so bad. (that's for the rain so that you dont smell like wet dog)
Gimme some soft serve!

after spending last winter on the cloumbia.... thermals are a must. Oh wait there was the moment in time where someone decided that canoes HAD to open with the park during Christmas. Nothin says lovin like opening at 7 am and having the dock iced over while you're wearing stupid moccasins
The water is green for a reason
Not quite sure what that reason is,
but it's green for a reason Kids!

Heavy thermals & layer, layer will get you through late fall & winter @ DLR. On stage can be bitter cold, unforgiving environs.GMC wrote:i only have the stories of other to know how to dress, i hear though, that if you wear thermal underwear and just the normal jacket, it's not so bad. A guest offered me $250.00 cash for my Custodial jacket in 01. Thought he might be a mystery shopper or??? Was so stupid, aliceindisguse wrote:I hate the stupid coat question. There's that one and also "Do they sell those coats" or "Do you get to keep the coats." Ugh. I mean I like our winter coats in fantasyland but I don't like them that much.

That's when you wear socks too ... and lots of hot cocoa. That is what makes the mansion costume great. Skirts are deceptively warm.... -gins-Space Man K7 wrote:after spending last winter on the cloumbia.... thermals are a must.
