The Disney Rumor Mill -Bye bye Magic Hat
Re: The Disney Rumor Mill -Bye bye Magic Hat
Please let this one be true. The hat just isn't right, doesn't fit the theme of the park. Its cute and all, perhaps they can move it but whatever, just get it away from the theather

Never liked the hat. I hope it goes. I wanted to dance when they took the hand/wand back down from SSE at Epcot.frankw123 wrote:Please let this one be true. I just call it "the Studios" and am done with it that way I don't embarrass myself :D:
I was just remembering the cute little fedora I got there the year it opened, dang, I wish I still had that thing. I wore the heck out of it.

Going around World Showcase is like traveling in time and relative dimensions in space!

Re: The Disney Rumor Mill -Bye bye Magic Hat
I wear one of those Aussie style hats, that they sell in EPCOT and AK. You know, the one with a folded up side brim. I also have a fox tail I wear, sort of a homage to "The Swamp Fox"......that was an old Disney TV show. I had a racoon tail I wear on the hat, as an homage to "Davy Crockett" but my Grandson thought it would be fun to pluck all the fur.

Fedora's are awesome, used to see a lot more of then around while Atlantic Dance was still open and playing swing music.
I have my Indy hat I got from the Stunt Show shop, I had to wait long enough. My dad would never buy me one, so I finally bought myself one last year. I wear that around randomly to mess with people ;)
Then tend to frown on the bullwhip though.

Not saying you're wrong, but my personal hope has always been that it wasn't built to last, and that it will need to come down before maint costs get too high. I always thought it looked more temporary, but it could have been wishful thinking. :D:kurtisnelson wrote:And as a personal bet, I don't see the hat going anywhere anytime soon. There is no reason to justify the expense of removing it, those of us who remember that it wasn't there are in the minority and I don't think someone coming to the park for the first time is going to realize the awkwardness of it.

It had to be built strong enough to withstand hurricane winds. Around these parts, we call that built to last :D:WEDFan wrote:Not saying you're wrong, but my personal hope has always been that it wasn't built to last, and that it will need to come down before maint costs get too high. I had a wonderful evening last night. It turns out I am fairly good friends with one of the guys who does staging for Disney. So I got to be a part of taking the stage that has been up in front of the BAH for the last two months down. Very interesting work, SIM class did not apply.
But I'd be lying if I said I didn't dream a couple times that what I was actually doing was taking the hat down...

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Dude, don't rain on my parade! Especially with hurricanes! :p:ktulu wrote:It had to be built strong enough to withstand hurricane winds. Around these parts, we call that built to last :D:
I still prefer to hold on to the distinction that "built to withstand hurricanes" and "built to maintain show" are two different things. I was thinking "temporary" with regard to show, not that the Hat would fall on someone's head. :D:
