There was nothing graphic in the explanation. I saw that the explanation simply covered why it was important, and why not taking care of the situation could be dangerous. I have heard much worse things from nursing students.

Sometime I will have to have my friend from Portland get on here and tell her story of having to help a patient reset their prolapsed rectum. Especially since she later found out that she could have just had the patient sit down and not get up for half an hour.

I'm taking insulin now, the privacy thing is just to spare others from seeing my tummy I can give the injection quickly,most people wouldn't even know what I was up to except for the exposure.

One of my friends has to give himself shots. He checks his sugar level and then gives himself a shot in the stomach. He said if you do that in the bathroom, there is a chance you will drop the shot. He does this in the restaurants before we eat. I always keep small bandages with me, incase his fingers bleed more. :D:

There's always that risk. I usually try to put it on something, like a (clean) counter. If one is strategic, then one can avoid bleeding.

Hope people aren't too squeamish who are reading this!

My son was so scrawny when diagnosed that they recommended his father or I do two daily shots in his arms (he does the other two elsewhere himself). And when eating out, we do it right at or near the table. :D: We travel off season or other wise have always been somewhere with no one in the booths around us, and never thought twice about it, but now I'm wondering if we should make an effort to get offstage when we're at WDW or somewhere else likely to be crowded.

So is it considered rude to give yourself/your kid a shot in public when there's no disrobing involved? I never really thought about it before. :p:

I try not to show anyone, obviously, but there is really no great place-my insulin works quickly, so I do the injection right after ordering.With the injection there is no blood,and used needle goes securely into my testing kit.
Hopefully, no one would leave a needle around

When I worked on Main Street I had a coworker that would give herself an insulin injection right at the break room table. She has one of those self-contained test kits, no fuss, no mess.

I use those flexpens, preloaded. just attach needle,
dial amount, stab and push button.

You folks are all making an excellent case for why it should not be something you have to hide away to do. It's a health issue not recreational drug use. People walk around with oxygen tanks and hoses attached, artificial legs, arms, hands, etc.

I used to give my Mother insulin shots...there was never a drop of blood with the shots and only a minor amount with testing. I think people that are "forced" to witness this procedure just need to grow up and be thankful they don't have too.

With that said, I will apologize for my comment on not needing to use a stall to give yourself the injection. It just never crossed my mind that it would be the least bit necessary. If that is what you feel more comfortable with, then you should do it, but because it is a preference and not a necessity...then being upset that someone is spending extra time in the rest room should not be an issue. There are alternatives for you, someone with "waste" issues do not have that option.
