Stolen from the MK?

Ok, here is a strange question. Has anything of signifigance ever been stolen from the Magic Kingdom? Or for that matter Epcot or HS?

My job, faith and general love for Disney World. (Mind you, the movies and DL are still recognized by me, however, WDW is dead to me.)

Short version: The company accused me of using equipment "that was never used in the location" when there was positive, no argument available, proof that it was in the past.

It's ok guys, I know you're reading this, I'm ok with it, because I know you're wrong and you hate me for it.

Wow, I never heard of those "Disney After Dark" books but hearing about the IASW scene being scary...I'd better not read them! WDW is a place I fight to keep my innocence about (harder the past few years) and I really don't want to lose it now!

After the past couple years I have some real life nightmares associated with the place I don't need fictional ones...

Has anyone read Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow? Wondering if I should download it to my Kindle now that it's available for it (like I have energy to read, but still...)

Yes, excellent book from an economist's perspective. He does a good job of not abusing the setting of Disney unlike so many offers who overindulge in just narrating attractions.

I'm with Kurt. It's a good read that does not do an injustice to the park or its cast.

For a hilarious read that *does* do them injustice, read "Deep Water" by S.V. Date. It tells the tale of the planned community of "Serenity" and the nearby theme park, "Waldo Whipple World". It's all that and a foot fetish!

I recommend it. It's a really fun read, and Cory totally gets why Disney is fascinating and weird and cool.

(I read it before it was published - I was working in the same office as Cory at the time!)

There is a bit set in Walt Disney World in one of Dan Simmons' books that totally cracks me up. In it, the main character is on the run and finds refuge at WDW. He manages to get backstage, which is harder in the book than in real life - in the book, he sneaks behind a locked door, and if I remember correctly, the doors to backstage are all closed with keypads. (This is how you can tell it's fiction.) Once backstage, he somehow gets mistaken for a character performer, and then he puts on someone else's Goofy costume and goes onstage for a set! This is also how you can tell it's fiction. I thought it was funny that in reality, it's super easy to get backstage but would be nearly impossible to put yourself in a character costume, while in the book it's nearly impossible to get backstage but really easy to pretend that you work as a performer.

Bru - all those Kingdom Keepers books are on audio if you're giving your peepers a rest. And the guy that narrates them is pretty good. I listened to about half of one driving back from Nashville with some of the kids from the Rifle club. I knew that I needed something to keep me awake, but I wanted to make sure it was PG13 at most.
