Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it is real and in fact, it likely is. We have one on the Storybook dock and on the Casey dock. Any other places I know of with water it isn't deep enough to need one and they're both in pretty plain sight if you look, so yeah, I bet it is real.

I'm pretty certain that all life preservers near waterways at Disney are real. They are put there for safety's sake. Part of the safety E-Learnings I've had to take includes the proper use of life preservers even though I don't work anywhere where there are life preservers. I believe all CMs have to take that course.

Not only that, it's likely that they're required to be there per OSHA.

freak, where do you work? i used to do odv at dca and went with restaurants when they split....was working pop 4 on the pier one time. turned around to answer a question and a mom and her son were sitting on top of my support unit with their feet hanging over the water. had to tell them 4 times to get down.

It could be even worst. Be on Churros 6 and the SG trying to balance on the railings during Fantasmic. The best is when security tells the SG to get out of the planters and trees.
