Breathless, I know how you feel. I have been to WDW many times and we just figured that the Vacation Club was the thing to do. Several years ago my wife's family from Wisconsin went with us, since they did not have to pay for a hotel. Well planed (timeing only) in advance to garner the points for two 2-bedroom units for 5 days each. 2-bedroom units at Boardwalk were running $500-$700 per night. Total cost for the 5 days would have been about $6,000, almost what the 150 points cost when we bought the Vacation Club. Otherwise the family would not have been able to afford the trip. Cost was not that bad for 12 people and coupled with the fact that we could walk to 2 parks: MGM(DHS) and EPCOT. With the in park bus system getting to the other parks was very easy. We did convince them to do one of the meal plans. I have been on trips when I was younger and remember eating hot dogs and beans the last few days of the trip. This considerations let them planthe fixed cost well in advaance and to save the money needed for a FANTASTIC vacation/family reunion. Since then I also have a Beach Club DVC (2 kids no fighting over who gets the ONE DVC. Now each has one)
