There is a CSI attraction out here at the MGM.
You can be assigned to solve 3 different cases.
solve them correctly and get a certificate.
tried it once myself. the crime scene made me nauseous.

Not to mention that in the world of digital forensics, you had better not "enhance" anything, as it will give the defense an opening to have the evidence thrown out during discovery.
(and like you said, it could take weeks to do whatever it is they claim to be doing on the show)
hehehhehe
the only thing I see for real on CSI miami is that caine is going to get cataracts if he keeps taking off his sunglasses and losing his UV protection for his eyes!

I remember reading the infor for the MGM, Pay $30 and you are giving 3 cases to solve. I believe they give you a few hours to solve it. I want to do that before it leaves MGM.
Now for the new Harry Potter commercials, it says you can only see it at Islands of Adventure in Orlando,FL. When we went to IOA 2 years ago, we did see the area in which it was being built in. I will have to wait for a few years before I return back to Orlando.

No what I'm saying is, what they do with digital photos and camera footage, is not a matter of time scale dilation. It's an IMPOSSIBILITY. The information they claim to be able to get out of them
does not exist.

well, to tell the truth, when it comes to digital files, there IS a lot that can be extracted from the files besides the picture, if you have the right software to accomplish that. you can also hide a lot of data within a digital picture, including another picture.

yes, I suppose that could be true, but don't forget about stego!
the "bad" part about those shows is that they take a little bit of "fact" from the forensic realm, and exploit it to the silly.
by like previously posted, ya really gotta suspend disbelief.
I know that several times duing jury selection, the "CSI effect" has come up and people truely believe some of the things they have seen to be fact rather than fiction. many seem disappointed that there were no "dog and pony show" exhibits, but just stacks of reports that can be two or three hundred pages long.
On the other hand, I remember talking to dismissed juries after a trial that were flabbergasted that digital evidence was located and recovered that had been deleted.
so I guess it evens out.
I just like seeing the cop shows that get in a shoot out once a week and never seem to do ANY paperwork...if they only knew!!

I once in a while will catch "COPS" on tv when I am home early Saturday evenings. I did take allot of police ride alongs and they were fun.
One call we got was in Leasure World in Seal Beach. Grandpa found grandma unrsponsive. She was in her bed. She had a heart attack a few days before and was taking some pain medication. Hubby was tired of her complaining of pain. He gave her the whole container and over dosed her.
A back up unit came out and took over.
I would had loved to seen how the Costa Mesa, Long Beach, Los Alamitos Joint Forces MP's handled the murders a month ago. I think I told you about the story.
These days, after work, I am a neighbor hood watch captain for the west wing of my building. I have the beautiful view of the recreation room. Lately we have been having problems with the teens smoking Mary Jane. You can smell it when the doors are open. I have made a few calls to my friends who I went to college with. They are now the night commanders. :D:

I've heard at legal conferences that the procedural shows are having an impact on real-life criminal prosecutions, and not in a good way -- some juries are expecting a lot of high-tech, gee-whiz evidence analysis that clearly points at a person's guilt, just like on the shows. And in real life some of it is pure fiction, and the rest is pretty rare.
