Is that not what unions do in general. Unions in 1930 necessary and good for the worker. Unions in 2010 protect the lazy, increase cost of goods to the point where we are not competive in the global economy, line the pockets of their leadership with our workers hard earned money.

Sorry unions hit a sore spot for me.

That sounds about right, of course the only real union exposure I have had is from the teachers union in New York who worked hard to prevent school vouchers here in Utah.

Zazu, you are the BEST!! You kept your cool and gave the SG exactly what they wanted to hear, even though you did at first offer better advice.

I was only a CP mind you, but I worked with several shop stewards in entertainment. I know that a steward would go with you to meetings with a manager and would help you fight write ups or termination attempts. This could be important when working a global role where you do not know your managers.

I believe it was the union that was at least partially responsible for the limitations on things like set length for the performers. And in several cases where character performers were taken to court, the union helped provide lawyers (I actually worked with the lawyer from the Tigger trial.)

When working in entertainment, I saw how it was sometimes easy for the big wigs to overlook some of the dangerous or physical aspects of the job (like performing for long periods in the heat, being asked to perform with lightning in the area, etc.) I think for us, a union was good because like I said, we are global and do not always get to know the managers. The union can be your voice.

I never really heard anything about the union when I was in rides. I do think unions are unnecessary for the most part, but I can see where in certain lines of work they can be helpful. As long as the union does not get too big for their britches.

We still need unions to protect ourselves, as workers, from corporate greed. Conditions and pay at Disney would be even worse without the union.

This was just beautiful. If anyone ever needs to know why a person should keep his cool, this is the answer.

My husband was a law enforcer and began as a dispatcher, then patrolman, and on up ... When someone would ask for directions and were ugly or arrogant, the wound up going through the marsh on a 2 lane black-top road and around about 50 miles out of their way. He rarely told me much about his job but I do remember he and a few buddies talking about this one. It's why I'm and always nice to food prep and serving people if I find the need to return something. LOL

I have no problem if in said situation you want to write my name down. It is M-A-P-O...hell, I have even written it down for guests that were furious. If I can, I write it down on the Guest Communications card I try to always have for those wonderful guests.

Yeah, I am very proud of doing my job correctly. And Zazu did his job impeccably. He tried several ways to give the easiest access..when that was not good enough according to the SG, he gave them the correct information so they could arrive in the manner that they demanded and preferred.

Plus everyone knows that the AK and Saratoga buses are the least crowded. Zazu gave them the increased chance to have a seat in their preferred mode of travel. (That is my story and I am sticking to that one!) :twisted:
