Stupid Guest Tricks

I still like the kids trying to jump over the trash cans. Usually the trash cans win and the kids are on the ground in pain.

A few months back while waiting for the cast shuttle at Harbor Pointe, a stupid CM was in a hurry and tried to hurdle a chain link fence. He did not clear it properly. Yup, his foot caught on the links and he face planted himself into a cement bench. He got up and ran. It is simple to slow down and walk around the loading area.

I have seen several professional dancers trip over spike marks on the marly! Both members of a rather prestigious ballet company, and Broadway pros. My friend who is married to a retired dancer says that it does not clear up once they retire, unfortunately!

I'm hardly dancer... I do now and then, but only in Musicals.

No... it wasn't spike tape... hell that might be forgivable, it is after all a tiny little lip... no it was first base painted on the gym floor at kickball, during day-camp when I was 13.

When I was in Toontown selling popcorn, I had the view of the Garget Coaster. There are walls all over the attraction. My brother and I were both signed off by the lead out there for the signal for climb. One hot summer after noon, a group of SG high school kids decided to stand up on the hand railings. I gave the coaster crew the climb signal and the lead came out. I told him that the high school kids were up on railings. I heard a snap after the CM told them to get down or the attraction would not move from the station. The weight of the guy caused the railing to break and that was that. The attraction was shut down for the day for railing repairs. :mad:

My chain-jumping story does not involve jumping. I was on tour with a college singing group performing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and I was in charge of our album sales. A little while after we finished, I got word that some of the workers in a nearby shop wanted to buy a tape or two (this was just before CD's).

Well, it was almost time for us to gather back on the bus, so I took off at a dead run to go grab a couple of cassettes to sell. The problem was, the bus had moved from where we unloaded, to an unlit parking lot. And night had fallen. And there was a chain at the edge of the parking lot, just about a foot off the ground.

I never saw it. I tripped over it at a full run, and the next thing I know, I'm sitting up by the rear wheels of our bus, a good 25 feet past the chain -- I'd just hit the ground face first and slid the distance! I ended up getting familiar with the Sevier County Hospital ER that night, but apart from a few stitches in my chin, it was mainly just scrapes on my hands and arms. Could've been worse -- and it made me a firm believer in endorphins -- on the ride to the hospital, I was just a bloody mess but I was feeling no pain, and cracking jokes the whole way.

Hey!!! I interned there after nursing school, getting my trauma cert. (My BSN was from UT-Knoxville, but my day job was working at a mountain bike shop in Pigeon Forge.) If you were there with that "People" group, during the mid to late '80s, I might have treated you, LOL!

I mainly remember the people that thought Cade's Cove had real ghosts or ran into real bears (and/or got the two mixed up), and the ones that had a little too much vacation - told y'all ER nursing and teaching college freshmen had a lot of similarities, but we wound up being on a first name basis with a lot of the performers as well.

Wow, it sure is a small world. (Someone might want to write that down.) This would've been late May or early June of 1986.
