I'll only get a life if someone can convince me it is better than what I have now! :cat1:

That is why most places have a chain or cord that the cashier can pull across the line to close it keeping more people from jumping into the line. I know when I was a cashier I always would stop checking out whoever was there to walk around the counter to close the line, then finish everyone in line.
Hello Mr. M, I am the resident dragon and would like to offer you a very warm* welcome to that slice of the internet we call SGT. Most of the lines have hard closes (where the character attendant will stand at the back and let people know the character is leaving), so the character wouldn't just walk off. And second, the character shouldn't just go off and mention breaks (if anything, they should say sometime more pertaining to their character).
Not sure if they have them in WDW, but in DL, most face characters do not have attendants, or hosts, because since they can talk, they can close the lines themselves. They either can go up to the last person in line and say that they are the last people in line that they will see, or either motion them or tell them to "Walk with me" while heading out.

All characters at WDW have character attendants. They do not walk around by themselves.

All characters at WDW have attendants. We walk the line and prepare guests for their encounter. You'd be surprised how many guests forget to have their cameras out. Excepting an extreme circumstance, no one would wait in line to reach a character and then turned away. I have turned away guests who run up just as my character friend finishes his last family after closing the line 20 to 30 minutes earlier, and want to argue that one more little child couldn't possibly cause any inconvenience. They are the ones who will go home and tell their friends about being kicked out of line just as they got to the front.

Apparently in DLR, they do. I kind of feel bad when the characters get ambushed and mugged from all sides by guests who want pictures and autographs.

this reminds me of another story from Board X about someone who posted who had a horrible experience with Peter Pan at DL this one time. They complained that all through their encounter with Peter Pan, all he did was look at the ducks and talk to the securty guard by Sleeping Beauty Castle. When they try to engage Peter Pan, he rejected them and continued talking to the security person.

The DLR face characters must be tougher. Does Disney give them a membership at 24 Hour Nautilus? :D:

I hate to tell you this, there are roaming cast members who work with the characters through out DL. I have seen them through the area. Character Host and Hostess. :)
