How about using a cell phone to take a picture? Mine has no flash. If you take a picture with a camera, it makes everyone cranky in the boat. :D:

Not true, I have a sony cybershot for a walk around camera, all the SG's have to do is LEARN about their camers. I can turn off the flash and rely on manual apature and f-stop, sure they are a bit blury, but if I need to, I can take a picture without a flash.

(AND it even has a "fireworks" setting..and it works!! and there is no flash!)

But I don't use any camera on the attractions. I would rather experience them!!!

We used the full-sized, clickable Sharpies to great success the last several visits we made. And as for comfort on dark rides, I have found that a glow-in the dark watch (preferably Mickey Mouse) works great. That and having her hat pulled down low, got my DD through the Haunted Mansion when she was almost 3. Yeah, rookie parent mistake. But she had watched that Disneyland Fun video about a billion times and wanted to go. But we just didn't take into account that a lot of the effects that "pop-up" did so at a pre-schooler's eye level. We DID NOT make the same mistake with her brother years later. His problem was more with rides that he couldn't see into. Very cautious kid.

I will admit, Moonliner, I like the look of pen much better than Sharpies as well! But that's just my personal preference. We do use pens that are a bit thicker and longer than regular Bics, but other than that, there's no real difference.

The downside to fireworks mode is the lengthy exposure time, which often results in blurry shots when handheld. The best I've found -- and this works for shows and such as well -- is to go to sports mode with the flash off. The camera takes rapid-fire pictures as long as you hold the button. You'll be tossing out a lot of duplicates and blurry photos, but I find you get more decent shots that way in low-light conditions, and occasionally you'll get some real gems.

true, I have used the "bulb" mode on all of the different camers I have owned (okay, I realize that I just dated myself) plus the one I have can be set to bracket three shot mode on any setting. (or continous)

thats the nice feature of going digital, you don't feel guilty about deleting a bad picture.

I got some good shots from my balcony using a mini tripod when they had the fireworks convention there several years ago over the lagoon near the Poly.

of course, the pictures are really just for us to remember the trip. I jsut can't bring myself to lug the big camera on a vacation to WDW.

Now if we go back to Alaska...well, yeah I need the telephoto!

the first year we went, we found out about Binky at the Alaska zoo, and visited!
