My Dos Cents

I don't feel as though I can weigh in on the work issue, or whether or not to show the film, as a non-CM, I don't have that kind of insight. However, as the founding member of the "CMs are people too, stop bitching about them you freaks!" club, I do have a few thoughts.
First, I am a DLR rookie, was there for the first time last Oct. I purchased an AP cus it was like $20 bucks more then what I was already paying. Even as a AP rookie, I knew NOT to wear the fuggin thing, what a tool move!!! Sorry, unless I am going to space, I really don't need to have that quick of access to it. I have these special garments called "pants" that have these unique storage facilities called "pockets" that store my belongings, so I store my AP in that, next to some gum and money. If for some reason I need extra storage I will put on my special 'Cargo pants' which have an additional two side pockets. I have to be careful wearing these in space, or other zero G enviornments.....
Anyway, good times, fight the power, and stupid guests. Remember there are some people out there that support you. Maybe we need a secret signal like the "Kuh-kaw" from Saving Silverman. That way if you need someone to be beat down, you just 'Kuh-Kah' and I will let the beating begin.
Seacrest out!

i have an issue with some of the annual passholders that come to the parks. Not all and i dont mean to say they all have issues or whatever. The point im trying to make is a lot of the AP's who come act like they know everything. ITs really hard for me to do my job when you are trying to do it for me. For example... I work the haunted mansion and im getting really sick of other people trying to say the speil over me and or the ghost host. ITs not so bad with the ghost host, but people that step thru the door and automatically tell the room to step away from the walls and into the dead center and say it loud and proud as if they own the place its like HELLO?! Let me do my job butthead!!! And do they even realize that they are supposed to be guests!?!? when you are in someone elses home you are to be respectful and courteous. OK granted you may or may not have paid $50 to get in. If you are an ap you barely paid anything. and you may think we OWE you something. we do our best to make a good time for you if you let us. SHeesh!

You'll get over that really soon. That's when you just clear your throat, ask them to stand next to you and make them do it for the whole room. In my experience they crawl into a corner and then you can do it yourself. Just go with the flow.

If they don't crawl into a corner, then when it's time for their group to
move on, tell them they have to stay and repeat that spiel every five
minutes for the next eight hours!

A lot of these APers, those aforementioned as the type that think they know everything (trying to do all the speils on HM, beating Cruise skippers to their punchlines, etc) seem to have an "I'm an honorary cast member" complex -- particularly the younger ones. They take it a little too seriously, and I think in some cases the wearing of the AP out in the open on a lanyard as though it were their "ID". Since I do so much work that crosses between backstage and onstage, I'm supposed to have my ID displayed all the time, but even I don't wear it on a lanyard. I have one of those belt clips that has a retractable cord on it (which I got from Team Center), so I can have it on me somewhat discreetly, but also can easily enough pull it up to show it to security (since I have to cross the gates several times a day).
A friend of mine is an APer who's somewhat like one of these that we've discussed, and the first time she saw my ID clipped to my belt (which has a small Disney logo on it) she said "That's so cool! I should wear my Annual Pass like that! Can you get me one of those?". I just said to her "Well...take my advice....just keep it in your pocket." She asked why, and I told her straight, "I'm an employee, this is for security...when you wear your pass like that it just.....looks stupid."
That being said, I don't think ALL APers doing the lanyard thing are morons for doing it. My sister, for example, while not an APer does like to collect the DLR character lanyards. I suppose for some people when they wear it in the park, it's a piece of "flare" that just shows their spirit. I suppose when used in that way it's not so bad.
But the "I'm an Annual Passholder -- Disney needs me to work for them they just don't know it yet" bit....that's, well, stupid.

i was talking with a premium pass holder (pass displayed proudly of course  ) when a guest came and asked me a question. well before i could open my mouth he just took over and started answering all her questions complete with the arm waving and two finger point. so i just stood there fighting the smell from his armpits and when i couldn't take the smell anymore and when i couldn't keep my face straight anymore i just walked off in mid conversation. ahh well... 8)

That's just sad...buying a PAP because you're a "wannabe CM" is just pathetic....

It was a few years ago when I was a lead. I was checking on one of the
stores when an annual passholder came up to one of the castmembers at
the register wanting a discount on an item that came to about $6. We
only give discounts to premium passholders if the item rings up at $10
before tax. Being an annual passholder he should have known this but
was trying to work the system. He stated, "I always get the discount no
matter how much I spend." I tried to explain the policy for premium
annual passholders & discounts. I advised him that I would honor the
discount this time as a courtesy but in the future he would not be entitled
to it unless the required purchase was made. He told me he was Michael
Eisner's cousin. Again I tried to let him know that it was a courtesy to him
& that I was just letting him know so that he would be aware in the future
that they would not apply the discount unless the proper amount was
spent. I was just trying to save him the hassle. He finally said, " Fine!!!
You want your money back then you can have your money back & threw
some change at me. He did not want to hear my explanation, it went in
one ear & out the other. He then asked for my manager. I explained I
would locate her if he could wait. When she finally got there after say
10-15 minutes he realized that she was not good enough & he wanted her
manager. Then when she told him who her manager was he continued on
saying that her manager was not good enough & that we need the next
higher up. Well in that case would it not be his lovely cousin Michael
Eisner. What a dickweed!!!!!. If he were his cousin why would he need a
pass in the first place. Go figure! He finally walked away with a list of
managers names & I assume proceeded to City Hall. I never heard
anything furthur about the incident.
