Yeah, I understand what you mean. Welcome to the Internet.
However, SGT does have a tool that will greatly reduce the annoyance levels if properly employed: The IGNORE function. As an admin, I can't use it, but I have placed several people on my virtual ignore list, and never respond to their posts. It helps.

It is indeed. And guests here might do well to remember that they our invited guests in a cast area.

Yup, ain't that the truth.
Lets face it, a great deal of the message boards and blogs on the Internet are filled with nothing but garbage, sarcastic comments, and nasty responses.
Heck, I remember a few years ago, I was a member of one of the X boards and had at least eight people on my ignore list. Needless to say, I am no longer with that community. A guy can only take so much verbal abuse. ;)
Fortunately, there are some places that are fine. Like this message board.
Yes, once in a while there is trouble here and the mods have to step in, but not too often.
And mapo--I definitely know what you mean, believe me. I know all too well the unpleasant taste of reading some of the rude, ignorant things that people can post out there...I wish I could get into more detail, but this being public, I will leave it at that.
But still, this is one of the best message boards that I have ever seen. Probably because of the CM presence and the fact that one of the goals here is not to be a SGT.

Zazu... not to contradict you, but per company policy, this is in fact NOT a back stage area. I go back to my comment that what if you where in a cast only area and then a tour group came through, then does that not now constitute it being an impromptu on stage environment...
I mean.. would you and Iago let your feather down and discuss the idiot guests that have been plucking your feathers if you thought that at any moment a guest(s) may enter your off stage location.....
With this board in mind... I cannot discuss details of certain incidents that have happened..
like the giraffe that became a lightning rod a few years back
or
Some new upgrades that are coming or new attractions that are coming
. I get my hands on privied info all the time just because of some connections that I have, but that does not mean because this site is "back stage" in philosophy does not mean that it is truely backstage....

What are you looking for? I'd be happy to host something for you.

I can throw one together with not much effort, and we can make people vouch for someone for them to be a member. Or, what if it was a bit more than a forum and had some other features too?
Ktulu: I think the problem with your forum is it is for a very specific group of people.
Yeah, but that is what it was designed for.
The only thing that comes to mind is what has already been said previously. Just not enough traffic from CM's only. Heck, I have a forum that I run just for me and my friends, and we get more traffic than the forum I setup for some folks :)
However, I am willing to host something for you Doc, just shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the offer.. the problem with 1rail is that their is a very low amount of people that would use it.. and it was designed for an even smaller group then them. Most of us who are on their tend to blow off the steam in a diffrent way.
As far as hosting.. the only thing that my provider cant do for me is ssl's because i reside on a shared server...

I can put you on your own IP and do ssl, if you're interested.
Yeah, 1rail was setup for a focused group, it was worth the attempt. I don't see a private forum taking off, but I've been wrong before!
