Thanks MS. Monday is the funeral and Tuesday they bury his ashes. :(

My own two cents, worth about that much: I can easily see how "won't be down for breakfast" could be offensive to someone close to the departed -- it is rather flippant and light in tone. And yes, for certain circumstances or for someone close it would be completely inappropriate.

That being said, humor in bleak circumstances is natural and necessary (though admittedly enjoyed more easily by some than others), and it's easier to be light-hearted about the loss of someone who isn't close. From what I've seen here, there is no intent to offend, and the people whose deaths are being announced in the "breakfast" way don't seem to be the ones most likely to have family and close friends show up here. (And when the losses to SGT regulars have happened, they are handled more seriously and appropriately.)

I'd hate to get so uptight about the potential to offend that we lose the ability to share a memory when a well-known person passes, with humor and without unnatural solemnity.

BTW, when I die, I've already told my family they can just wheel me down to the alley to be picked up by the trash truck. (They'll probably have to wait for the monthly "bulk pick-up" day, though.) So feel free to "breakfast" me all you want!

No way!!!!

I use this board alone to keep up to date on deaths.

I don't think they are disrespectful at all. A lot better then saying "BOB DIED AT AGE 45"
