That's interesting and fitting. Only the President of the US can order the American Flag to half-mast but the same restrictions don't apply to company flags. Good way of showing the company is thinking about him.

R.I.P. Roy.
after reading about some of his activities, It sounds like he tried his best to uphold the ideals that Walt established.

Roy Edward Disney was our champion in so many ways.
For a better idea of his contributions, I suggest starting with the book "Disney War" and then "Storming the Magic Kingdom".
What a gentleman and a stand up guy.
He will be missed.

I met him and his wife at my 15 year dinner with the park. He was nice and he said "O'hana." Family and shook my hand.
I did call and text friends about his death and they were all shocked.
R.I.P Roy, we will miss you. :(

Would that more Disney execs would understand that concept. Great story, Zazu -- thanks for sharing it.

DL Line put out a separate glossy, colored one page tribute to Roy. Picture shows him standing by a boat in harbor. Solid memory.

I met Roy Edward during a book signing in 1998 at the old Disney Gallery at DL . The book was a biography of Roy's father. He was very warm and genuine and even let me take a picture with him. He really did look like his uncle and I would have loved to have spent time with him talking about the early days of the studios.
He will be sorely missed.

This is especially sad for me because now he will be taken out of the Golden Mickeys show on the Disney cruise ships. For those who haven't seen it, he appears "live via satellite" and interacts with the host, so obviously they can't keep that bit now. There is an alternative with Whoopi Goldberg that they used when he was at odds with Disney (until a massive outcry brought him back) so I'm sure they'll go back to that version. So sad...I loved the Roy part of that show as it was like a direct connection to Walt.
