Then there's this gem:

Gah! Will the parents back off and let their kids handle their lives??!?

I work in a University, and am constantly hearing "I'm hear to discuss my daughters..... My son is attending in the fall and has a hold...."

Well, then tell them to call or stop by. I swear this current round has more 18 year olds that can't wipe their own butt.

From time to time, I teach a very technical course that happens to be a core course in a graduate program.

I have actually had parents call me or meet me to "discuss" the grades. (if you get below a "b" average, you are out of the program)

Because the grade is so important, I give the students a handout that, in precise detail, explains the grading system.

I have still had parents argue with me.

I'd add, "If the instructor is contacted by the parent(s) of a student attempting to have a grade inflated, your grade will drop one full point. You are adults, act like one."

hehehehe, that would be nice.

school policy states that once the grading system (which is standardized) is set for a course. It must be followed. there are built in safeguards for unusual circumstances. (military duty, illness, etc.)

I had one parent try and go hyper on me, till I showed her the print-out from "turnitin.com" that stated that little timmy's term paper was 96% plagerized.

When parents did that, I make sure to tell them that I will note that they spoke to me, and that if, in the future, I am contacted by anyone doing a background investigation, I will pass that information on.

hehehehehhehe

I think that anyone who doesn't do their own work for school, regardless of grade, or level in college, has no business being in college. Obviously they don't have the self-discipline required for what comes later, so let the chips fall where they may. Both times I was in college I did my own work, never using a computer except for a couple of researched items for a paper. But I took notes, went home and typed it all up on my word processor. Other than that, I used the old-fashioned way of doing research and writing papers--by using the library stacks, periodicals, etc..

Kids today need to learn that the only time play comes before work is in the dictionary. And parents need to understand that schools don't hand out grades like candy, that high grades must be earned. I mean, after all, it's a system that has worked very well for thousands of years. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I have heard of people who actually go to Job Fairs with their kid and do all the talking for them while Jr. sits to the side in a business suit, holding a briefcase.

I also know of a mom who called the workplace after her 22 year old daughter didn't get the raise she wanted.

I understand we should allow children to be children as long as possible, but where is the cut off point?

My phone interview went very well today.

The recruiter was very impressed with what I had to say as well as my past experiences and qualifications.

Now it's going to be a few weeks until I hear back from WDW again.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Yay Red!!!

Still keeping all good thoughts for you, I hope the wait won't be too long before you get good news. If it makes you feel any better, I'm waiting on some stuff too right now so we can wait together. Shall we play I Spy while we wait?

Wait...that won't work over the internet...you'd see different things than...

neeeeeeeeverminnnnnnnnnd...

Besides that's not the greatest game in the world for someone with visual impairment either is it? LOL *smacks forehead*

:D:

Okay, so enough with the joking, seriously I'm proud of you! Great job I hope you're one step closer to those coveted pilot wings. I'll be so happy for you the day you finally get them (and I'm sure you will one day one way or another!!!)
