I'm tech-savvy enough to have stuck with Windows 2000 Pro for my Windows-specific apps.
I keep hoping that Wine will improve enough I can dump the Windows boxen and convert all to Linux.

LOL Kurt! This just might be the way to go. :) Spoke yesterday with a really cool techie from UCI who has had Windows 7 for a few months & says it's a Great program. He's the guy who wiped Vista off my new computer 2 yrs. ago. He has Windows 7 in beta. Pirates most other software. Gotta love him. ;) Will buy new computer in Dec. when Christmas sales are full blast. Could wait for darph's promised check. Have been down this road. :D: His checks are s l o w, which means Windows 8 may be out.

So I have my XP Pro systems, XP Pro on my netbook because XP home sucks for a network guy and both have Windows7RC running in a VM. I'm still not so sure I'll switch.
Now, if only I can get Leopard to run on my beige G3. In fact, can we get Tiger to run on it? I know that Snow Leopard won't have a chance.

You're outta luck with the G3 running Leopard. You may have a shot with Tiger but it'll be pretty doggy. As you're with Netapp, call Casey Todd in IT. He's in Sunnyvale. He should know if it'll work.

I actually knew that. Sarcasim is tough to portray in a chat room. Tiger has been known to install (with some help from xpostfacto) but as you point out, it's about as responsive as molassas on a New England winter day.
It was more to point out that us older G3 owners were left out in the cold by Apple with newer versions of OSX.

Sorry, I've never been to Boston. What's that like?

It's one of many variations of a phrase meaning something moves very, very slowly. Synonym: glacial speed.
There's a Bugs Bunny cartoon, set in winter, and Elmer Fudd is trying for the umpteenth time to kill the wabbit, with the help of Daffy Duck. Daffy has Elmer stand behind a nearby tree, ready to blast Bugs when he comes out of his hole, and Daffy calls down the hole, asking Bugs if he has a cup of molasses he can borrow. Bugs replies, "One cup of molasses, coming up!" And when Bugs surfaces with a tin cup of molasses, Elmer fires, but hits the cup; the molasses flows out easily. Bugs notices this, and comments, "That's funny, I didn't think molasses would run in January."

It's a big city with the worst road layout this side of London and the worst drivers that side of Los Angeles.
They talk funny there too.
