Seriously, they were good movies, why must Disney constantly try to ruin my childhood memories by tacking on half-baked crap that goes directly to DVD 90% of the time!?! That's what I won't watch or buy. But anything new from the real talent at Pixar...yeah, I'll go see their originals every time!
Well, the good news is that the days of direct to DVD sequels are over. They ended with The Little Mermaid 3. From now on, sequels (if any) will be theatrical, and
presumably, better quality.
The only direct to DVD projects that they are doing now are the Tinker Bell movies, and John Lasseter has a strong presence at Disney nimation now and is making sure that with anything they do, quality is upheld and that the suits don't meddle with creativity.
As I understand it, John Lasseter will continue to be the executive producer on every Disney animated film, (as well as Pixar films of course)
I'm not sure what to think about Toy Story 3 yet, but I will try to keep an open mind.

I do have to say that John Lasseter poking his nose around gives me some confidence, especially after seeing how Bolt turned out. Initially I was bummed that Chris Sanders was bumped, as I love Lilo and Stitch, but after seeing his concept art and hearing tidbits about his plot, and comparing it to what Bolt actually became, I have to say Lasseter made the right decision. It's such a cute, sweet movie.

There is no movie studio that I have as much faith in as Pixar. I have enjoyed every one of their movies, including ones I didn't see how I could relate to beforehand, like Cars.
If it were any other studio, I'd give Up a miss, but it's Pixar, so they got my money.

Working...and teaching now, too. I'm coaching with a program called Capitol Debate. I teach mostly high schoolers but also two classes of junior highschoolers. It's pretty fun, but it takes up all of my time. Actually, I'm going to be down in FL on my birthday (May 2) and that will be the first non-debate related time off [from my real job--IT for the USFG still] I've had in better than six months! (Just so nobody gets offended, I'm only going to be in the area for a few hours and I'll be with my mom, so I'm not counting on getting to meet up with anyone... It'll be nice to be "home" for part of a day, at least!) How have things been around here? I've checked in a couple of times, but I don't think I've posted in many months...

I'm lucky enough to see most of the Pixar movies without ponying up (or by ponying up TOO much, depending on your point of view). We cruise Disney Cruise Line often enough to get to see most of their new releases on board. If "Up" is running at a convenient time onboard, I'll most likely give it a shot. I remember my skepticism over "The Incredibles," although it piqued by my interest when I heard that people were suing superheros. The movie turned out to be my all-time favorite Pixar production, although Wall-E has a fond place in my heart and I LMAO at the Axiom parts.

How could any showing not be convenient? You're trapped on a boat. :D:

Pixar movies are the only movies I look forward to seeing. They are tops with story and design. No animation studio comes close.
I think the colorful bird would make a great puppet.
I know for sure I am buying the Art of Up book.

Well, you know, there are lots of other important things going on...hanging out in the hot tubs, lying around on deck, noshing on some brunch at Palo, and of course those pina coladas don't drink themselves!

You've obviously got your priorities straight. Can you drink pina coladas in the theater? That would be a twofer.
