Disney Bans Zazu's Misguided Tours
Re: Disney Bans Zazu's Misguided Tours
Zazu, that completely sucks. I hope you put the tour in a book or on MP3 or such. I would pay BIG bucks for both.

Didn't someone like Jim Hill do tours and get banned from doing so?

Yea, but he was charging people for his tours. . . inside a Disney park, no less. That's a justifiable no-no.ktulu wrote:Didn't someone like Jim Hill do tours and get banned from doing so?

Not just a justifiable no-no but a huge no-no. It is completely against Disney policy for guests to charge for that kind of thing.leftcoaster wrote:Yea, but he was charging people for his tours. . . inside a Disney park, no less. That's a justifiable no-no.
Jim Hill was violating Disney policy with his tours and that is why they stopped him. Zazu, on the other hand, made sure his mis-guided tours were in complete compliance of Disney's rules and regulations. That's why no specifics were cited by management, because there are none.
I know Zazu, he'll comply with Disney's ban as long as it is in effect, be it a few months or forever. We can hope they decide to reverse the ban but that is up to them.

Typical management stuff--gotta kill off everything fun and enjoyable. I remember once when I was working at Knott's, there was this couple of ROs, on Balloon Race, and they were having fun with the guests, helping them into and out of their baskets, strapping them in, etc., and the guests were just eating it up. Then one of my shift leaders told me to tell them to knock it off. Killjoy.
Apparently management's idea of fun is way different than normal people's sense of fun. I mean, no safety rules were being violated, the work was getting done, etc.. But NOOOO, they couldn't do it like that--they want freakin' robots.

That's not true of all managers. A little back story to set the scene: The Confectionery kitchen staff enjoys doing a conga line through and around the Confectionery when the "Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Street Party" comes out. They enjoy doing it and the guests get a kick out of it too. Well, the other day I was stocking so was able to join them for the 5:45 street party conga line. We had a blast and so did all the guests.felinefan wrote:Typical management stuff--gotta kill off everything fun and enjoyable. Afterwards one of our managers was talking with the kitchen staff about how he could see the guests enjoy the conga line and that's the important thing. He stated he wanted to participate both times the street party came out that day during his shift but was unable to because he was busy with something at those moments.

Zazu, I am so very sad to hear that Disney has asked you to stop doing your tours. I'm really glad my buddy and I were able to do the tour with you last fall and now I'm really glad we didn't put it off until later.Zazu wrote:Hiyas,
Yup, it's true. My tours are over (for now).
Anyone who has reservations (or just faint hopes) for the tour scheduled on Wednesday 18 March, please come join me for breakfast at the Kona Cafe at 7:45 anyway.
Like the man said, "We dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we carry on, we go home happy. What do you say? Come on."
At least, we do so until the Company bans me from talking in restaurants and hotel lobbies too.
Here's hoping that saner heads prevail at Disney soon! You'd think they'd be doing anything they could to get people into the parks rather than discouraging them.

There are so many hand gestures that could be appropriate, the mind reels. :D:smart1hermione wrote:...
