OK folks back to whatever you were doing. That was test of the Moderating Emergency Response System. If this were not a test then you would not know it as .... Hey who cut the mike?

I am glad we have a good Moderating Emergency Response team in place.

As for teens I try to avoid the bad ones and cherish the good ones. So many good kids out there if you look.

Thanks for cleaning him up. I went into shock when I read that.

Now with the jr high kids in the park, I have heard the stupid tricks that they do. My favorite on day was when this kid was popping a wheely on a wheel chair. I came up to him and told him, A) it is not safe. B) You are a fool. C) if you fall backwards and blame it on the park, I will report you to security. Boy, did that kid get up and run away from the wheel chair.

Sounds like an incident I had on the Wonder. Came out of an elevator and nearly collided with a kid popping wheelies in a wheelchair. I grabbed the armrests, snapping him back to horizontal with my nose inches from his. I'd seen him and several friends taking turns in the chair during the cruise, so I knew he didn't need it. :wheelchai

"If I *ever* see you in a wheelchair again on this ship, I will not only confiscate the wheelchair, I will arrange for you to be locked into your cabin for the rest of the cruise. Do you understand me?" :explode:

Apparently he did, as he slipped out from between my arms and lit running down the hall, leaving me to give my #1 glare to an empty chair, which I then wheeled back to Guest Services and informed them that a guest had been magically cured and no longer needed it.

I suspect the plaids are still confused about that one. :shaker:

Teens are definitely capable of learning/maintaining good behavior when there's something in it for them. My nephew recently visited and spent a long weekend hanging out at the theme parks with DH. DH reported that he was an absolute angel. This shocked the heck out of Mom and Grandmom when DH returned him, but as I pointed out, "If he screws up, he knows Auntie-And-Uncle-Who-Live-Next-To-WDW ain't gonna invite him back." That carrot is apparently enough to offset the wild teen behavior. Implied blackmail is a great behavior modifier.

Well I think we have mathematical proof for our Teenagers + Manners equation. I have told people about this site but... ??????

I think the problem is that most parents don't insist on good behavior with their teens. They also don't hold them accountable for what they do, and that's important. I also spent an afternoon with one of my daughter's friend (famous for causing trouble) and my children, and I had no trouble whatsoever with her. The reason was because the rules of the game was the first thing I lay out. You do this things, this will happen. Follow instructions and not only would we all be happy, you'll get rewarded at the end of the day. I make no joke that I'm a very strict parent, but I'm also very fair. She had a blast and mom wonder how did I get her to behave. It's better if I don't answer that, because mom's parenting ways bug me...

Yes, I completely agree that not all of you are like that. I actually did Gradnites a while ago, and I actually found you all a lot better behave than the regular guest in the previous day. Maybe I had good luck but I actually had fun and almost everyone was polite.
