Stupid Guest Tricks

This is why I am so glad I have a green lanyard. Adults can get crazy about pin trading.

my old roommate worked at Pin Traders at DTD, and she got in "trouble" because one of those pin traders complained to her manager, because she had a green lanyard, but an adult really wanted one of the pins, and asked her if she could trade for it. She let her, and this guy complained.

And this attendant I work with told me this story about how, one time, when she had her lanyard in her attendant bag, this woman came up to her and demanded to see her pins. People go crazy over the pins. I've had problems on set, and the attendants will be trading with someone, so they don't see what's going on.

And that's why I feel attendants shouldn't be required to wear pins. I feel just the opposite actually, that they shouldn't be allowed to wear pins at all for safety purposes. A big part of their role is to keep their eyes on things and to keep the characters safe which they cannot properly do if they are distracted by trading pins.

In all honasty.... We are trained to assist one person at a time, If for some reason that someone was to come up to us and "try" butt in for any other reason then one of utmost importance ( security,medical, fire, etc... ) then we are to ignor them untill we are done with the person that we where assisting first...

i love doing this to ignorant SG's.. it pisses them off to a level that makes me smile...

I feel the same way. That is why when I am with certain characters, I won't bring it out (Power Rangers, dance parties, used to be with the Cars, and so on).

I hope attractions CMs don't have to trade, I can't imagine trying to measure a child, answer a stupid question about the ride, telling some impatient ass on an ECV that they still have to wait approx X minutes for the ride AND trade pins with some obsessed freak. I am hoping to apply for a job starting summer for attractions, if the world doesn't end by then. Stupid economy.

Some attractions have a lanyard that is worn by the CM at greeter and is handed off to the next CM who is at that position (unlike Merchandise and most other roles where a CM has his or her own lanyard).

Good answers all, but I still like my idea the best. I will wear the stupid lanyard, I will trade, but what I won't do is replenish.

THANK YOU!!!! Seriously I loath the idea of pin trading and I do try to keep the crappy pins on my landyard all the time. I only replenish it with what I know little kids would like, I like trading with the kids. Many situations in characters attendants could have been avoided if the attendant wouldn't be busy trading pins with guest some place else. There have been times however where I have been told to take my landyard off because of safety and so I'm hoping that some day someone understands that and decides to take the pins away on our costume.

I have my one lanyard of pins and for me, that is plenty. But it seems that some people can be down right jerks cause of it. What is up with shoving children away for a silly piece of metal? Attendant friends have told me of how they would get their lanyards yanked and necks jerked by the pin sharks or even how pixie dust tink pins demanded from them. I even one came here making a post about pin trading and someone even had the nerve to ask me if they can HAVE my pins (no offers to trade or even money), as I didn't yet know how to pin trade! When I asked if they would be willing to pay for them, they never answered me!

Pins people can be such asses it seems. I'm kinda scared to wear my lanyard cause of all these stories I hear. Think goodness I only really have easy to find tink pins.
