14) How many miles of track are there on the entire Walt Disney World Monorail System, including switches and spurlines?
14.5 (or 14.7) miles
Correct

15) Monorails Coral and Lime, as PapaMouse stated earlier, have deltas to differentiate them from some other Monorails. What is the original color of the deltas on Lime?
yellow
Blue, as you were reminded.

16a) Where are the Monorails stored at night?
10 are stored at the monorail shop. 2 are stored at TTC unless it gets to freezing temps and they are stored inside the Contemporary. No train is left ou tof the shop more then 2 nights in a row.
Correct.

16b) How many Monorails can be stored at this facility at one time?
10 (see above)
Correct

Please IM me with grade and correct answeres.

Thanks this was fun.

I want to note that no I did not "cheat" and Google any of the information. I have my own monorail site. :)
Very nicely done. You got 13 correct out of 16. Certainly not a bad score. PM me your site, I'd love to see it sometime.

BRWombat wrote:
I've always heard the runway referred to as the STOLport (STOL being an aviation acronym for Short Take Off and Landing). The body of water I believe is Lake Bambi?
Shorty82 wrote:
That's the name of the airstrip. Used primarily for bus training and parking and, I believe, parking for the construction workers working on Bay Lake Tower. Bambi Lake is the name of the body of water, you were very close but not quite right.
Shorty82 wrote:Disney doesn't let ANYBODY land at the STOLport anymore. They didn't even make an exception for Mickey Mouse One (Walt's private plane) when it was brought in to be put into Studios' boneyard. Instead they closed down World Drive to land it and towed it to Studios from there.
They had to take out all the street lights to make it work.

Now for a few trivia questions of my own. Pilots, please 10-23.
10-23 means stand-by :)
Or more precisely, within Monorail operations, hold.

1) How long is each Monorail at Walt Disney World?
203'6"
Correct

2a) How many cars did the Mark IV Monorails originally have?
5
Correct
6
Correct

2c) Which Monorail did not have that extra car?
Gold
Correct

4) What is the term that we Monorail pilots use to describe regular operation?
10-8
Normal Visual

5) On the Epcot beam, when you are travelling from TTC to Epcot, you pass a runway and a lake on the left side of the Monorail's forward motion. What are their names, respectively? What is the importance of that runway?
Not sure about the runway but I know that it's Lake Bambi
6) How many ways are there to exit a Monorail car?
8, 4 doorways, 2 emergency hatches, 2 emergency exit windows
Correct. The only exits I haven't used now are the windows.

7) What part of the Monorail is a Disney Trademark?
the "D" that won't be there after all the trains are repainted :(
Learjet nose cone design. I think I did not ask this question the way I meant it.

8a) What is the top speed of a Disney Monorail?
40MPH, 48MPH on the "thrill hill" before an overspeed?
If you get it to 48, you will receive a full-service stop, but yes, you can do it.

8b) What is the top speed of a Monorail according to Bombardier?
100MPH
Correct

9) What are the colors of the stripes that identify the Monorails?
Silver, Gold, Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime, Green, Blue (aka "Blew"), Purple, Pink, Coral
Hey, now... Blue's usually a nice train to drive... Maybe not for you, now.

10) At what resorts might you have to sign paperwork stating that Disney has the right to use part of the land to build a Monorail line at their option?*
Saratoga Springs
And other DVC properties

11) At most, how many people can be operating a Monorail at one time in the United States?
1
Yep, I asked this question incorrectly. Your answer is correct for what I asked, but not what I meant.

12a) How high is the highest point on the Monorail?
 40' AGL

12b) How low is the lowest? 6' AGL

13a) How many power settings are there on the console?
5
13b) How many brake settings are there on the console?
4
14) How many miles of track are there on the entire Walt Disney World Monorail System, including switches and spurlines?
~14?
15) Monorails Coral and Lime, as PapaMouse stated earlier, have deltas to differentiate them from some other Monorails. What is the original color of the deltas on Lime?
dark blue
Or purple. Both answers work

16a) Where are the Monorails stored at night?
10 in shop, 2 in MK and/or resorts? Parked nose-to-nose at Contemporary if it's really cold?
Correct. Trains can be parked for the night in any station.

16b) How many Monorails can be stored at this facility at one time?
10
Correct

14 of 16. Very nice.

Regarding the Beam Contacts, or more precisely "Beam Contact Latches", what do we do with trains on a daily basis that sets them off?

I agree, this is a fun thread to follow.

So the beam contacts....on they daily basis they are set off by:
trains going over the switch beam(during a switch) because of the extreme angle? Thus, the chassis comes close to the beam?
Actually, Lime is coming back into the fold, it's almost a nice train to drive again. Not as fast as she used to be, but nice... Just remember that Lime slides and you'll be fine. No powering into stations (as I so love to do in Gold and Purple... and sometimes Black).
