I am daily thankful for that fact!!! You guys are just wonderful.

I can't sit around and doom and gloom about this. My husband seems to be adjusting to the news but I am realizing very quickly how my attitude about it directly impacts his. I think that really freaked him out too was when they dilated my eye- the surgeon said to him, "Look at your wife's eye, you can see the cataract just by looking at her" he walked over, looked at me and said "oh my god! Your pupil is totally white!" Being able to see a glimpse of what is actually blocking my vision really freaked him out.

But as I am realizing more every day a) that I have nothing to complain about people go through much worse every day including my own dad this year and b) that it's vital I not get gloomy because of my husband and daughter...I just have to slap myself back into shape. Have to just pull on those big-fairy wings and suck it up and deal with it a day at a time.

Onward we go!

big squishy hugs and again my gratitude to everybody

Bru

I am so sorry you've had to deal with so much but your attitude is wonderful and it's admirable. Best of luck and keep the positive energy going.

[font="Palatino Linotype"]i'm so sorry you were all psyched up for the surgery only to have the plug pulled at almost the last minute...that so sucks! i hope with all my heart that you make it to the pre-op appt. and surgery BEFORE any more damage occurs

as far as medical devices and insurance i know what you mean...my son's hearing isn't what it should be (it's pretty bad) due to the chemo he had to have...but the insurance co. won't pay for a hearing aid because (get this one :rolleyes :) it was a side effect of the chemo and not due to natural causes or because he had a pen rammed into his ear

OMG that is outrageous Elena!!! I know my FIL needs them and his insurance won't cover them either. I can't believe the stuff they cover and what they don't. The guidelines are about as helpful as tax code manuals LOL

I tried to get them to tell me for sure whether genetic counseling is covered because my eye surgeons all want me to go- my PCP wants me to go (I still don't wanna go!) and they say, "Well, it's probably going to be covered if..." but they can't give me assurances and at this point it's like I don't want to risk taking on a huge amount of charges in testing just so they have a nice little umbrella to put me under, especially when I know for a fact that one of the main suspects as far as genetic abnormalities they want to test me for can be done with a skin test! I asked for a referral to a rheumy to get that done instead but all these big university docs do research and they're all "Oh, we want you to go here instead..."

I should ask if they want to give me a blank check to take with me!

research docs? I would offer to let them test you for the results...remember you're the one they want to study... :)

Bru-there really aren't words to say to this. I just wish large amounts of strength for you through all of this.

They can transplant hearts, lungs, guts, livers, bone marrow, certain bones, skin, and create thumbs out of big toes, reimplant faces torn off by sleeping dogs, but why oh why can't they transplant eyes, and I don't mean just the corneas? If they really want to help somebody....
