Part of the spiel for the Grand Sierra Scenic Railroad in Camp Snoopy at Knott's pointed out the carousel in Fiesta Village; the part of the spiel informed guests that "the difference between a merry-go-round and a carousel is that a carousel has a variety of animals, and a merry-go-round has only horses."

I think it's the other way around.
