Wearing IDs on stage and off the clock

I'm also amazed that anyone would want to wear their ID on stage on their day off. Even without ID a lot of guests seem to have magic Cast Member detectors, wearing an ID I would think you would have a problem getting from one part of the park to another.

Heh, I know the feeling! Before the black curtain was added, 2 little girls almost ran in on Tigger "changing". I swear the Manager's jaw almost broke through the floor. She followed them back to their mother to explain what happens when people don't follow signs.

Can you just see those little darlings in therapy years later? "I was traumatized when I went to Disneyland/Walt Disney World as a kid, and saw Tigger take off his head, his skin, everything!" :D:

And of course, they'll sue Disney to compensate them for all of that. It's happened!

If I have come through a regular gate my ID will only be out for one of four reasons:

1. I need to go backstage to something like Cast Services, in which situation I will clip the ID to my shirt just before going backstage but will remove it as soon as I am onstage again.

2. To get fastpasses.

3. To get merchandise discounts.

4. To bring to the attention of somebody on duty (especially security) where a guest needs something (or something told to them). (Or a situation similar to what BW stated near the beginning of this thread.)

I have found that many of the CM's I have seen wearing their ID's on stage have been CP's (newbies). With a very friendly, but firm message they have put them away. Soemtimes, that is all it takes. With others, oh well............... CM's should know that if you can't wear your ID while in costume on stage, the same holds true while in street clothes. Back stage is a totally different matter.

Maybe cause it's my theatrical studies background, but I have never set off a CM radar among guests. I never have the dear in the headlights look (or do i??), but I certainly don't act like I'm an expert at park navigating.

Am I really that good of an actress?! Tee Hee!

Not sure if it is your theatrical prowness. But CM's do stick out like a bump on a log in pubilc, in street clothes. Several years ago, the Orlando Sentinel put it the best. If you want to know if the person you are talking to is a Disney CM, just ask them for directions...... The finger point gives us away all of the time. :D:

When I see guests jumping fences, I ask that they not do it, they are there for a safety reasons. (firmly, but politely). When they respond with something else, I will repeat myself until they respond to what I said. Then, it's usually how I don't need to repeat myself five times. I *usually* allow them to go on their way, but it depends on how they treat me.

The other night, it happened, and on the third time, they responded, "10-4". Having one of those quick moments, I smiled and replied, "Oh, where do you work?"

"Uh... uh... we're not Cast Members!"

"No, you're not. To me, there are two types of people who work here: Employees and Cast Members. You've just proven you're not Cast Members. You'd have respect for the rules if you were. Now, what area do you work?"

Didn't get an answer as they all but ran away.
