Cast Members need to be taught how to get places using Disney Transportation, especially the ones who work anywhere near the front of the park. I rode in the front cab of the express monorail from MK to TTC yesterday with a family and they were talking about going to DTD. They had asked a CM on the MK side how to get there and he directed them to the TTC to catch a bus. I got them on the right track though, explained to them that there are no direct buses from any of the parks to DTD and told them their best options were either to walk to the Poly or to take the resort monorail there. I told them I figured it'd be just as quick, if not quicker, to walk to the Poly and showed them the path there.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

At TL Gate we always get questions from Guests on how to get to the parks.

Generally the first thing I ask them is how they got to TL and which park do they want to get to. If they came by car I will suggest they drive.

To DTD take bus to OKW and then stay on as DTD is next stop.

To MK go to Cont or Poly and change to monorail.

For EC go to Beach Club, walk though lobby and out back door, turn left and in about three minutes be at International Gateway.

For AK (or BB) take bus to Coronado and change buses.

For DHS I will suggest bus to CBR and then change buses.

For people who came by car, I will ask if they are staying at a Disney Resort. If they answer that they are, I will warn them that we close a lot earlier than the theme parks and about 45 minutes after closing, when the park is cleared, there is no longer bus service. If they are not, and therefore trying to cheat the system, I will neglect to give them this information (since they did not ask for it).

Actually for DHS, send them to Pop Century and tell them to stay on the bus. Studios is the next stop.

There have been a few times now that I was at the Monorail platform, gave a guest some information on how to use the bus system to get somewhere, and had another cm correct me. I'll try to argue once, but if they keep it up I'll let them go, then after the guest walks off, I will inform them that I used to drive, so I have a somewhat decent clue what I am talking about when talking buses. In this one area, please never "correct" me again, as you just sent that guest on a wild goose chase.

Why would they want to give a guest incorrect info? It would seem that if you told them that you had the "latest" that they would let you give out the information!

I often wondered why Disney Village parking was packed full of cars but the stores were empty...

I was wishing that they would bring it back, just enforce the "show your card" rule for guests. but I do remember that when we are there, we usually set a day for just DTD and other activities, so to and from the resort is no big deal. We also learned after the first trip, that having a car is not worth the effort(for us), when we can just use the Disney transportation!

Please don't.

With the amount of SG's still doing this, the lines and waits will get longer and more SG's reporting drivers. Can you see it now. Driver asks for resort ID, SG trying to scam system gets billigerent and then finds a GSM who sides with the SG, reprimands the driver, comps the SG a nights stay with dinner at the Cali Grill and personally escorts guest to park of choice in his van.

Good point. DW and I have already eliminated DTD from out next trip. We realized that we buy all the stuff we want at the various parks, and it's not worth it to "waste" a day away from the parks to go shopping.

Me too. At DLR the DTD is nothing but high priced gift shops that you can find comprable items for less at Wal-Mart or even Macy's. I have also noticed at DLR that there are items unique to a certain area like the Rapids which you cannot get in DTD.

For WDW that last trip I also was seeing the same thing that was in parks and did not go back to DTD. I could shop in park a lot easier and items tend to be themed to the area like cute plushies in AK that are endangered animals and in Epcot there is Welsh stuff to buy. If I ever go to WDW then the only reason to go to DTD would be Cirque D'Soleil, PI and maybe a few restaurants.
