Remember, they choose you, you don't choose them!

Thats a good name!

I wish I could keep Milo. Unfortunately my apartment only allows two animals, and I currently have 4 with the blessing of the apartment manager. (probably compensation for living in the building referred to as the "loony bin" thanks to several colorful neighbors.) Five animals would be pushing it as it is. Plus, my crew has a good balance going. Two cats, two dogs. The two cats are kind of like boyfriend girlfriend kitty, and Ithink Makya sees me as primarily his human. I noticed that he wasn't coming up to me during naptime when Milo was on my pillow. I'm afraid I've been making Makya jealous. Milo deserves a good home with a family who can give him everything he needs and love him.

There's also the possibility that he is somebody's pet who escaped. I am pretty sure he is neutered, and he has definitely been socialized. He is quite thin, so if he escaped it's probably been a few weeks at least. If his family is looking for him, hopefully they have contacted the Humane Society and they'll recognize him when he comes in. If not, hopefully he'll find a family that will provide for him in the manner he deserves.

If it weren't for the limit on my apartment (and the fact my family will kill me if I take in another stray) I would keep him in a heartbeat. I hate doing the responsible thing. :(

Well, Milo is back in the quarantine cage. He started biting me. Thankfully not hard, but it's got me worried. He was purring and rubbing up against me, but then started trying to bit my hands and arms. I'm going to mention this tomorrow at the humane society, I'm hoping he hasn't been exposed to rabies. I feel bad caging him, but since he is starting to bite (Even though he isn't being aggressive about it), that seemed to be the best course of action.

Then the SPCA gave us three-week-old kittens to foster. TINY kittens, and they had to be bottle-fed with KMR. We ended up adopting the two of them, because really, how could we say no to this face?

Poor kitty. I really wish I could take him.

I let him out of his cage so he could wander. I plan to put him back in when I leave or if he shows any signs of aggression. So far so good. I'm pretty sure he was just playing (He was purring and nuzzling while he was doing, similar to our demon cat at home), but you can never be too safe. I was going to take him the Human Society today, but they haven't picked up their phone so I can't tell they're open. They are a decent drive with an upset kitty, so I'm not taking him if they're not open. Looks like he'll be guesting another night.

The biting could just be play biting, so if he bites you again, pull your hand away and firmly say "No biting." Be consistent. If he continues, walk away. He has to learn that biting isn't okay. Play with toys like fishing-pole type toys where you have to interact with him, and don't use your hand as a plaything. If he bites while you're petting him, he's saying "I've had enough, now stop."

He hasn't tried again. I'm pretty sure he was playing. He will most likely go to the Humane Society tomorrow or Wednesday. :(

Milo is in quarantine once again, this time because I am pretty sure he is sick with something. Once again he pooped in my room  and there was much more blood in it this time. I am goign to take him to the Humane Society tomorrow on my lunch break. I will bring this up with them and the fact he bit me last night (didn't even try to today). Hopefully the will fix whatever is wrong with him and adopt him out to a good home.

EB, do you have a no-kill shelter where you can take the kitty? In IL I knew all the local no-kills because I was a stray magnet. Here in FL they are few and far between, and the kill rate at the local counties for cats is over 80%!! I just read the latest figures and it freaked me out...thank goodness no strays have found me here (yet).
