Has anybody been to the Cast Preview of Mania in Florida? How is it?

CM unwritten rule bookkurtisnelson wrote:Now if I were to stand outside of Toy Story Mania during cast previews and beg would anyone let me in?
1. Assume that the person buying a pin from you in the park is SECURITY. Assume that the person trying to get into a CM ticketed event is SECURITY. Assume that the person helping your carry out stolen Disney porperty is SECURITY. Assume that the 60 year old man with the cane and guide dog is SECURITY trying to catch CM's sneaking strangers into the park on their comps.
2. SECURITY comes in many sizes and shapes so that little kid might be a MIDGET SECURITY.
So I would never let someone into any CM ticketed event or use comps unless I knew them. I got to see Santa Clause 2 at DLR because I a pin trading friend of a CM who on his birthday had nobody so we went and I got him soda pop. popcorn, candy and a hot dog. I got into another preview event because I was FRIENDS of a CM and not a stranger.
CMs are for the most part very nice people who often barely make ends meet. Why risk them going to jail for scalping or losing their job? Why hurt the nice people who make you feel special and make your stay so magical?
WHY? :(

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
I agree. I know many CMs and don't even think of soliciting CM privileges from them. The one time I was able to take advantager of a CM preview was when Test Track was open for a CM preview, and due to multiple delays and problems they were trying to offset some rather major bad press. So it was suggested that the CMs bring not only family but friends to the preview. I and one of my buddies were staying in Ft Wilderness and a CM friend invited us to the TT Preview. It was lots of fun to not only preview the attraction but also to be taken to the preview through the back stage area. They were using the section of the Epcot parking lot furthest to the east and had trams that took us straight to the back side of the attraction. We were let out (in the rain) almost underneath the speed loop. Then we walked around the building to the entrance.mechurchlady wrote:CM unwritten rule book

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
After reading this again i just see so much wrong with it. Would you go to a restraunt and ask an employee for a free dinner? Or the movies and ask them to let you in free? Why would someone even think of asking a Disney CM to get them in for free? I understand the people who are underhanded and offer cash under the table, I've had hundreds of people offer me cash less than what we charge for towing over the years. Its a major problem in our industry, most of the time tow truck drivers are out on the road and unsupervised so there are lots of opportunities for this sort of thing, but to just walk up to a CM and say "hey, can you use one of your free entries to get me in the park free?" is so wrong. Someone post a link to the thread on the other board please and ill go flame the hell out of the poster just out of GP.
My A/C quit working last night so I'm tired and cranky and we are looking at 4 days at +100 degrees and the A/C guy says they are "really booked" so flaming some SG teaching others to run a scam would make me feel better.

But thats the problem, Other board's x, y, and z have a LOT of SG's on them, and they start some thread and it bounces back and forth until they come up with stoopid ideas like that.svickersart wrote:After reading this again i just see so much wrong with it. They want something for nothing. They want to be treated "special" and simply paying your money and going to the park dosn't seem to be enough. These are the same people that believe the rules exist for others, but not them. Its a form of entitlement. You see the same attitude on people breaking the rules, jumping the line, pulling an SG fastpass scam, or hogging getting their picture taken with Minnie, Mickey, and so on.
Hence the term "SG"

Re: DL Cast Members...Question...
Precisely DisneyMom and svick! Who cares if a CM loses their job as long as your family gets in free? Even if someboyd approprached me asking me to get them discounted tickets I would be upset. I earn that discount for my friends and family because I work for the company, I am not going to abuse it for some cheapskate who thinks that he's better than everybody else. I would imagine that that too could get you in trouble and be seen as stealing from the company. I remember looking into the DVC, and being told that buying it with your CM discount can make it harder to sell it later on as it is seen as competing with the company, I would imagine this isn't any different.

It shouldn't be funny, but it is...
Legend: Alligators dwell in the sewers beneath Disneyland.
Truth: There are no sewers below Disneyland, and therefore no alligators in them. The secret tunnels are infested with mutant rats, however.
