I work in retail. We don't even swipe the cc, the customer does it. I don't even need to touch the card unless there is an issue. So it doesn't matter if it is signed or not. A lot of retailers use the same system.

I work in retail, and I ask to see the card before I'll put it through, even though the customer slides the card. And I have had people get upset with me. I had one guy who had "see ID" on his card, and then got mad when I asked for his ID, because it was only for a $10 purchase. And one time, I was at NY and Co, and the cashier goes "Can I ask you a question?" Me:"Sure" *as I'm taking out ID to show her" Her:"What does see ID mean?" *sees I'm taking out my ID* "Oh, I don't have to see it, I just want to know what it means.". It means you're supposed to ask to see my ID!

Yup, I agree, you know they are trying to cheat the system.

That is good to know, thanks for the info.

My customers understand when I ask for ID. You are suppose to, but most people don't.
Princess Susi wrote:Ralph always thanks the clerks for asking to see ID. He likes that he is being protected from the bad guys who might have stolen his card. I think it is great that all clerks ask. He always tells the clerks, "I just wish everyone in every store everywhere would ask."

When I went to Las Vegas last week, I got carded by a security guard. I am 41, but I look like I am 21. :)

A few years ago my younger brother got me a funny key chain. It reads the following:

Everyones entitled to bed stupid but you're abusing the privilege. :D:
