A friend who was suppose to be on the Olympic boxing team when the games were held in Moscow told me most of his training was how to avoid getting hit. Watch Sean Connery and his thumb in the Presidio.
Exactly, a lot of training in that area is about avoiding the strike. Without bragging, I may get hit once, but I am sure going to ruin someones day if they do!! I have showed several methods to DW and it is very easy to be safe, just watch what is going on! That and have a water bottle available!!

In martial arts, I trained to finish it in one strike. Anything beyond that is just cruelty and should be unnecessary. Of course, when you train that way you do tend to change your style to be more effective. I found it much more useful to learn how to use an attacker's energy and inertia against them. The look of surprise is priceless when, in sparring, your partner throws a punch, you catch it and direct it past you, and they find themselves on the floor with no way they could stop themselves. If punches were bad, back then no one was willing to try to kick me, unless they were wearing a sport cup.

Ah, I need to get back into that kind of shape.

I've always been impressed with the damage a rolled up magazine can do.

I'd go for, "Hang on. I saw this done in a cartoon and have always wanted to try it."

Love it! If I heard a driver say that, I'd be going  !!!

"You're kidding, right? Hello? It was a joke, right???"

But then, nowadays, I'd be stunned if I heard a bus driver at WDW say anything. :(

Wellllll yeah, sure....Believe everything I post!!(hehehehe)

I also train defuse and distraction. Besides hitting someone with an object, you would be suprised how effective it is to take a sports top water bottle and squirt water into his/her face. it will give you a few seconds to complete what ever your plan is! (its not expected!)

Besides you NEVER waste RUM!!!

And who says that a water bottle HAS to contain water?
