Stupid Guest Tricks

We used to sing "Twang your magic twanger, froggy" when we were kids. Hehehe.

Actually, I've seen concrete boxes with better acoustics than Bob Carr. Unfortunately, I can't afford to see shows there either. I go the opera every once in awhile as they usually have $15 cheap seats and then upgrade you when you arrive. I save up for some shows (I don't miss Les Miserables whenever it's playing) and I'm going to go see Spamalot and Wicked if it kills me. If I remember correctly, On the Record was in Tampa while we were on vacation, or had relatives in town, or something, or I probably would have tried to get away to see it. Maybe hopefully it will come around again some time (being the kind of thing that gets picked up by regional theatres too).

About the Trekker/Trekkie thing. I heard/read a story once (I don't remember where) about Gene Roddenberry using the term Trekkie at a convention. One of the fans corrected him saying that the term is Trekker. Gene basically looked at him and said something along the lines of I created the show and I say it's Trekkie. So as far as I'm concerned there are no Trekkers only Trekkies cause Gene Roddenberry said so. :p:

If Roddenberry said it was Trekkie then it is Trekkie. He is the god of Star Trek and what he says about it goes.

I just realized Susislicker is in California for the next couple weeks. Hope she and Raffles are having a great time and neither of them gets sick this trip. Can't wait to hear all about their adventures when she's back online.

I've done the Trek conventions in costume and my share of online rpg-ing and all but I have never scared the stars. I've had some fun experiences with them over the years and really hope to get to Vegas for the Experience someday.

Purpura, I can relate to the ridges. Mine were in another location when I wore them than the forehead! Walk with the Prophets! ;)

I knew there were trekkies lurking around here just beneath the surface. Just barely beneath LOL

I become a Trek fan back in the 70's during early reruns of TOS (though I am old enough, barely, to remember having seen the show once when it originally aired). It was a great time to be a fan. It's hard to convey the excitement of enjoying a show that seemed to be dead and buried, only to have it come back to life on the big screen.

I never got into the Trekker/Trekkie conflict, but the early fans were called Trekkies -- "Trekker" came later -- so I've stuck with the original. (Funny, I remember hearing the whole "Trekkers are snobs" argument from a friend who's really a fanatic. Eventually he switch to calling himself that and then insisted he had all along. But I digress.)

What I am most thankful for, when I recall my association with Star Trek, is that there were no digital cameras around the year I went to a convention in Denver wearing a homemade uniform. I'll cop to being a geek, but at least there's no photographic evidence of exactly how much of a geek I was! :D:

There's plenty of evidence that proves I'm a geek, I wear the banner with pride and joy! I found my soulgeek and we met because of Star Trek! We've been together more than a decade and so I have a lot to thank Trek for!

Star Trek and I debuted on the same day - September 8, 1966! I guess that makes me a Trekkie by default.
