I love how there are blackberry bushes all over the place and you can stop and pick them as long as you're not on private property. The Oregon coast is especially gorgeous, went camping there near Coos Bay a few years ago....

But I agree.....PARTY AT HOBIE'S!!!!!!!!!! I promise to behave and not whack your lizards!
Okay, NOW I know I'm being tested!!! Must....Not...Post..POINTS!!!

I do miss some things in Oregon.. the Blackberry Shake at Burgerville and the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Rings are awesome. But we've had that conversation.

I look forward to going to visit Oregon, but I don't care to live there again... not Portland, anyway. I feel very at home at Disney World now and wouldn't move away for much.

Next trip will be to Disneyland to see how different it is from WDW, to see some of the attractions that I remember being different than attractions here (read: better in many cases). Plus, I want to see the original Tiki Room.

I saw a great airfare from the west coast to Hawaii recently. I need to plan a trip to Portland carefully next time, so I can take advantage of a cheap flight on to the islands to visit our favorite beverage-tree-growing, shoeless, weed-wacking guy.

Hawaiian Air seems to have some good deals on fares. Cheapest time is right after school starts in September to mid November, Mid January until spring breaks start and just before summer break starts.

The lizards are pretty fast so whacking them might be hard. Another interesting critter is the francolin. They're a dopey bird that mostly live on the ground. They have a very distinctive call that's great to be woken up by. We usually see a few families cruising through the neighborhood with babies in tow.

Looks like a variation of a quail. Are they hunted as a game bird?

At this time there are no plans in the works. Of course, when they are I will let everyone know here so they can meet the Moderating Marsupial.

If I remember correctly, Nov-Feb is the rainy season, isn't it? You don't have those heavy summer rain storms like we do in the south.

Did they ever solve the problem of mongoose overrunning Oahu? Did they ever solve the problem of deciding what the plural of mongoose is? :D:

For what it is worth, the spellchecker built into Firefox likes mongooses but not mongui or mongeese.
