I would think that you could find some very cheap "pirate" themed coloring books, or "copy" a picture in black and white, and have a coloring contest!! (also barqs root beer makes a GREAT kid "RUM")vixen101485 wrote:OK OK. :D: ..so I am not up on nautical terms, that is why I am here. Plus I had too much mashed potatoes earlier and I am not thinking straight.
I need a back up CHEAP craft tho. How about some coloring pages or somethign similar to bide away the time while they wait for all the kids to get there?
Regardless....as they come in they will be each given an eyepatch (some black fun foam and elastic) and their very own parrot----TP roll covered with colored paper to look like a parrot and with elastic on the bottomso they can actually wear it on their shoulder. I made a test one of these and Meghyn had a blast for an entire hour walking around with it on her wrist (she didnt like the shoulder bit as it kept "pecking" her ear. LOL

I like the coloring contest idea. Have someone judge it at the end of the party. Easy game.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:I would think that you could find some very cheap "pirate" themed coloring books, or "copy" a picture in black and white, and have a coloring contest!! I was thinking of serving cream soda and changing the labels on the bottles to something like.."rumble" ???????????????

"Grog" Grog is a mixture of water (or really bad, weak beer) and RUM.vixen101485 wrote:I like the coloring contest idea. Have someone judge it at the end of the party. Easy game.

That is the perfect word.! I will just print up a few labels and slap them on what ever I do give. I usually have juice boxes at these shindigs, cost effective, semi-healthy and easy.

There you go!! a good cover for juice...Pirates also used to mix fermented fruit juice (and by that, i take it to mean the casks had rotten fruit in it)and RUM, as RUM was the only medicine available, they also used it for an aniseptic!vixen101485 wrote:That is the perfect word.! LOL...dont know if I will have to resort to pouring it over wounds at the party. LOL Think I will stick to the first aid kit.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:There you go!! a good cover for juice...Pirates also used to mix fermented fruit juice (and by that, i take it to mean the casks had rotten fruit in it)and RUM, as RUM was the only medicine available, they also used it for an aniseptic!

Yeah me too!! Although I do know a combat medic that jokes that his whole kit is a flask of "whiskey" and a few band-aids!! (HA!)vixen101485 wrote:LOL...dont know if I will have to resort to pouring it over wounds at the party. LOL Think I will stick to the first aid kit.
It sounds like a wonderful party!! Another thought is that you could make "Swords" out of cardboard and duct tape, the duct tape is silver and kind of looks like metal, but I don't know if you want to go that route! I know about kids and "toy" swords!!

Favor boxes are almost done (I think?) I snagged some of the cool treasure chest boxes from Long John's (free) and filled them with some stuff I have been collecting since Halloween ( I plan well ahead since I can never afford or find what I need when I need it here in Podunkville)
I have a pencil with pink skulls and crossbones on them($2 for 12), POTC fruit snacks, POTC stickers and tattoos(free), POTC gummie skulls and crossbone(1.50) gold chocolate coins (1.50 for 60), skull rings (pennies at the most), lots and lots of beaded necklaces (love Xmas clearance and yard sales--cut them to size and twist the last 2 beads and you have a necklace for next to nothing. I got 8 for 50 cents from one pack), and tons of seashells(a large macrame plant holder that I got for $1 at Goodwill and cut apart)

YEAAAAHHHHH,,,,,nothing that could inflict major damage. Fortunately I do know how to make the balloon kind and even have a bunch floating around the house with the pump so I dont have to get breathless. I could even make them there as an entertainment like thing. Eh! who needs to hire those ppl, do it yourself.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote: It sounds like a wonderful party!!
