The few time's I've asked groups to confirm their cell phones and pagers were turned off I also asked them to disable any low yield tactical nuclear weapons.
When introducing a speaker I'd always add something like, "And his steely like gaze has an unsettling effect on livestock."

I love these type of spiels and preshow announcements! I used to be given pretty wide latitude in "warming up the crowd" when doing announcements for my former church's Christmas pageant. (Not WDW, I know, but still a big enough deal -- 8 or 9 SRO performances each year in a place that held 1100 people, plus a Christmas Eve TV broadcast.) One year I did the "flight attendant" thing, with 4 young ladies from the choir standing at the front of each aisle doing the hand motions -- "And now, with your tray tables stowed and your seats in their fully upright position, please sit back, relax, and enjoy tonight's presentation." :)
Another year I stole Four for a Dollar's schtick and had our quartet dress as stage hands and start messing around on the mics before breaking into the opening song. We had so much fun fooling the audience, that we spent the hour before the show actually working as stagehands, setting props and such!

Do you remember the Road Eyes from Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps tour?

So CMGUY, what's your first day back at Epcot? I definitely want to come by with the Marsupial Welcoming Committee.

As of now I am assuming the 28th. I am going to North Carolina, (where my parents live now) on the 20th after finals. Spend about a week there and then drive straight to Access Control to get my new badge. Then fall down asleep and go to work the next day... I look forward to meeting you!

And in church plays where we set off fireworks and pyro snow, I was the stage manager. I loved that so much.
Maybe I need to go that direction some day...
