My brother then received a tongue-lashing from the officer, telling him he deserved it.

Shut my brother right up.
Love it!!!!!!!!! :D:

I was referring to my inability to resist a double entendre concerning your statement about corporal punishment, and some peoples proclivity toward anal sex. Sssshhhhhhheeeeeehhhh!!!

I'm not certain, but I think Ktulu (despite his generally conservative nature) was on the same page as you with that one...

Edited to add: Wow. I must be tired or slow right now. Normally I would have thrown in a butt-sex joke too!

So one day I was in line for BTMRR at Disneyland and there are these two kids dicking around in a planter. Then this dry voice comes over a speaker and says, "If at any point while you are waiting you should look around and find yourself in a planter, please get out. Because...you're in a planter."

Funniest thing ever.

And flash photography should be a hanging offense.

Buggy wrote:So, I'm back from my trip. Saw all the typical stupid guest tricks, people who don't understand what "no flash photography" means or who ask annoying questions, or -- my personal favorite -- who like to stop in the middle of the walkway for no reason except to obstruct traffic.

But one stands out in my mind. We were waiting in line for a character signing in France in Epcot. There were these two kids playing in the hedge. I man that literally. One of them was lying in the hedge while the other one was trying to pull him back over the guard rail and onto the sidewalk. To make it clear, the kid wasn't stuck in the hedge; he was actively resisting getting out of the bushes.

I tried to get the cast member's attention and point them out to her, but she was oblivious, so I called out, "hey kid, get out of the hedge." They were gone a few seconds later. My wife said that I sounded angry, and I guess I was. Why wasn't someone watching those kids, or worse, was watching them and ok with them leaping over railing and damaging the hedges.

So, who was the stupid guest, them for being in the hedge or me for doing something about it?

When I was nine, my parents took us kids to Australia, with the intention of emigrating. We were there only six months, but I started fourth grade there (finished it in the U.S.); whenever one of my classmates acted up in class, the teacher got his cane (not the kind used to aid walking, more like a slender bamboo whip) and whacked the errant kid on the backside with it. How many canings the kid got depended on the severity of the offense. But you can bet the kids were pretty well-behaved. And when I was in school (U.S.) teachers were allowed to punish children, though it was usually the principal who carried out spankings. Me? I was never spanked/caned in school, only at home.
And I agree, kids today think they can steamroll their parents. Look at the difference in what constituted the top ten reasons for school discipline fifty years ago with now. Fifty years ago, you got in trouble if you were late to class, dressed inappropriately, didn't have your assignments, defaced school property, chewed gum in class or talked while the teacher was lecturing, etc.. Now kids kill kids and teachers, bring weapons to school, fight, commit rape, etc.. It all began in the 70's and 80's when parents were spoonfed the idea that parents and kids were equals, that spanking was abuse and taught violence, and that what was called misbehavior was the kid expressing their creativity and true personality, etc.. Turns my stomach just thinking about it.
