I have a massive 45 and LP collection, having worked in radio. I was so into radio since I was a kid and used to listen to radio at night under the covers with my little transistor trying to pick up all the stations I could *on the skip*. I used to get some pretty far away stations at night when they would power up. XERB from across the border in Tijuana with Wolfman Jack was one we always got. 50,000 watts shooting straight up the state of California! He came in pretty clear at night.

Hi-Fi~ LOLOLOL! : :D:

Randy, I think you and I are fraternal twins separated at birth..Your life sounds eerily like mine. Are you the evil twin or am I?

If you really want to see some fun try finding a turntable for the 16rpm disks. Not only is the speed tough to find but the disks are nearly 2' across and so most tuntables don't have enough room between the disk hub and the tone arm. Last I looked my father still had a dozen or so of those disks.

As to evil twin, we'll have to leave everyone guessing (or maybe that suggestion tags me as the evil one). :D:

Once we get moved, I want to put together a sound recording booth that can go in the garage and give good recording quality. That is the one thing that really hinders me from doing some recordings I want to do now, that I don't have a good dead room.

Maybe I could find something at the Haunted Mansion...

The ideal place would be a basement, but I guess not so many in Flordia!

Yeah, not so much.

Scary part is, here I live at a much higher elevation than I did in Portland, where I lived at about 23' above sea level. Had a basement there.

Go figure, I guess its because its too expensive to build one. I grew up in the midwest and it was unheard of to NOT have a basement.

It's the water table. In Florida it is quite high normally. Basements WILL flood in Florida, even in the slightist rain sometimes.

Yeah, I remember them mentioning it when we took the behind the scenes tour, too bad, you can put a lot of stuff in the basement!

I had a basement when I lived in Denver. Where I lived was higher than much of the surrounding area, and our basement still flooded once.

Bummer! I was thinking of moving out of california, and liked the idea of getting a house that was into the side of a hill, with a walk out basement!! Rumpus room! woohoo!!

I'm back! A couple of hours ago my roommates and I landed safely at BWI and, miraculously, all our luggage made it too! Got a ton of stuff to unpack and a ton of laundry to do, but I thought I'd check in and say hi to all my SGT friends! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to meet up with anybody while I was down there, in large part, because of a sudden illness one of my roommates came down with while we were in FL. Luckily, she's okay now. I have a ton of pictures if anybody wants to see some of the ones that turned out okay (I was having adventures with a new camera...nothing fancy, but a pretty decent little Sony based on some of the pics I'm looking at now). I've got decent pictures of fireworks (including Holiday Wishes) and of the new lights on the Castle (so beautiful!). I'm sure I'll come up with more to post tomorrow and over the weekend (so tired now, brain no function good) but I wanted to post the SGT that was the highlight of my entire trip:

At Animal Kingdom a few days ago, in Anandapur by the new Yak & Yeti restaurant, there's a guy sitting on a low wall there holding his daughter in his lap, screaming at his wife who is obviously near tears: "She's five F*ck*n' years old! She doesn't need to hear that F*ck*n' God Damned kinda language!"

Needless to say, it wasn't the only time during the trip that I laughed so hard I cried! There were a few other good ones, but I'll post them later. Oh, by the way, a sure fire way to confuse an otherwise very good and funny bus driver: casually walk up to him and say "So...uh...Big Wallaby?" :p: Sadly, I couldn't find our marsupial pal, but not for not looking! I also ended up telling one bus driver, who was impressive enough that he just might be on par with BW and Cranbiz, about SGT. Hopefully he finds his way here. I think I have his card somewhere, so when I find it, I'll PM BW and Cranbiz (if that's okay with you guys) to see if you might know him and can encourage him to join our merry band here at the forum... Anywho, I need some sleep. Thanks for being here everybody, at the end of the day, it's the CM's who make Disney great and they certainly did it for me and my "family" this trip. Have a good night and a happy Thanksgiving! (Now I need to go celebrate Thanksgiving in the traditional American way: by taking a Native's land and giving them syphilis!)
