And do you realize that Disney's political correctness is what caused the Beaver Tails concession at the Canadian Pavilion in Epcot to shut down. It was due to PETA's complaints about mistreatment and mutilation of beavers.

Theme Park Where wrote:Wow, I started a whole tyrade on PETA here! I wonder what damage I can do with my story about the lady who was threatening to boycott Disney because the Pocahantas show at Disney MGM Studios had "witchcraft" because the indians conjured Pocahantas out of the fire in their storytelling!
The woman has a right to complain but PETA has a long history of lying, using terrorist tactics, assaulting innocent people and using big bucks to draw in new recruits.

It is one thing to state that something in business is against ones beliefs and another thing to assault people and to lie. I do not do the Haunted Mansion and quit going to the Tiki Room for religious reasons. I might go one time if I was in WDW. I stay out of threads and chat rooms about Harry Potter. I do not go up to Potter fans and rail on them about the witchcraft.

PETA is evil because it goes up to innocent people and throws things at them because the person is wearing fur. It is wrong. Education is the only way to stop animal neglect and the fur trade.

I do not hate animal groups like the donkey rescue group, the horse rescue group, Delta, Wildlife Way Station, ASPCA, or Doris Day group. Just hate PETA.

what a coincidence, its against my religion to go into the tiki room too....
it goes against the first commandment.

1. Thou shalt not waste time in any Walt Disney Park at an annoyingly badly "upgraded" attraction. ie: The Enchanted Tiki Room, Under New Manangement". Especially when a second trip on the Jungle Cruise is so much more fun.

You can violate that if you go to DL where the REAL Tiki room lives on!

I remember way back when AK first opened, I noticed that they stopped shooting at the hippo on the Jungle Cruise at MK. They told me it was because it would look bad...AK took a lot of heat from animal activists, which was not helped by certain incidents like the baby cheetahs being poisoned, so I guess by stopping the fake shooting at a fake hippo demonstrated sensitivity to animals. I'm glad they finally have the guns again; not that I'm a fan of hunting (unless they're getting rid of those god-awful wild hogs in Lake Louisa State Park that scare the poop out of my horse), but it was just idiotic to take that out of JC for politically correct reasons, and I never took it as condoning hunting anyway.

Well, most of it. They took out the Offenbach number, and worse, the Offenbach joke, "You stay Offen my Bach and I'll stay offen yours."

I miss that one.

You've been forced to hang around Iago too much, Zazu. It must have deafened you. The Offenbach is still in there (I think.)

maybe i don't understand... and no disrespect to other's religions, but how can someone avoid a ride at Disney because it is against their religion? IF you don't like the ride then that is one thing, but I do not see how anything could really be against one's religion... Well i suppose if your religion tells you not to be open minded and refuse to learn about other cultures then it could be against one's religion. Enjoying oneself at a place that celebrates (and pretty poorly) Polynesian culture and heritage in musical numbers and animatronic figures is not going to cause someone to be unfaithful to their religion (and if it does then Disney really needs to start making a buck off it! lol... ) I suppose if the song was really good it could be a test of faith or something... not to convert to Polynesian god worship lol.

what I am saying is I don't see the religious difference between the Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion and say Splash mountain or Philharmagic. All have fictitious characters in them and none of them make religious references other than the Tiki room which uses the word "gods" lightly. Does one not study greek mythology because it deals with other gods? gods that one does not have to acknowledge existence of? All of these things tell stories, stories no one is forced to believe in.

Now boycotting the parks because you think the park is mistreating live animals, then that it is all dandy and fine... shorter lines for me - even though it is a misconception, I can at least understand it. boycotting a park because it has an attraction that involves Native American ancestor worship is silly... Don't go to the show (as some of you have said you do not attend things that you feel are against your religion) However it is this blunt arrogance of those who want to boycott over something so petty that leads to problems in today's world... people block out others' cultures because it is different without trying to understand. Maybe if we all just take the spirit of Epcot and enjoy and celebrate one another's difference (that doesn't mean we have to convert to their beliefs) we would get along better on this spaceship earth...

again none of this was meant to be an attack against anyone... I just don't understand the concept of being religiously offended at Disney World. Everything is so PC nowadays! And I know none of you are the arrogant people who shut others out.... :P
