I dunno, it was a large touring group from Japan. I wanted to go with "2" as well, but I had a gut feeling they didnt understand a word I was saying.

I'd bet they did understand. The Japaense tend to be 1) willing to learn English and 2) more respectful than most tour groups.

I guess one of the biggest complaints is a two-parter. 1) many feel WDW didn't really give ample notice on the policy change for guests to cancel w/out penalties and to try to find other accomodations. 2) This must have been a decision with a long time planning, but when guests are calling to inquire, they are not getting solid answers if any re where smoking will be allowed at the resorts.
Seems to fall under "Stupid Management Tricks" lol Are any of you here at the resorts or manning the phones & getting inquiries about this? Must be frustrating to not be given direction & info to be able to pass along.
Then there is the heated debate about the "cleaning fee" to be charged if the resort thinks you have smoked in the rooms. Some are afraid that smoky smelling clothes & luggage will incur false charges.
One person stated they will just smoke in their resort room's bathroom with the fan going (SG) then another mentioned the vent systems are tied into several other rooms and the smell will just travel to the other rooms on that vent block/circuit.
Some of the militant non-smokers are stating they will be calling security & taking pics if they see guests smoking on the balconies, even if it is across the way & not affecting them at all. (like security needs to be dragged into this crap)
Reading the majority of that thread just emphasises the mind set of SGs (both sides of the argument) and causes me to think resort CM's will have some major headaches after June 1st.
I wish them (CMs) luck!
Most times Cast Members (in the DRC) get a 2 hour to 24 hour notice about policy changes. Even then its in the form of an Advisory, with an attached FAQ of some potential questions. This is done so confidential information doesn't make it to the DisBoards until its public knowledge. As to an answer of where smoking will be allowed after June 1st, that is entirely up to the resorts, and the Disney Reservation Center (DRC) does not know.

The same is true with Package Codes, and new promotions. We were told about the Free Dine offer 3 days before the Disney Visa portion went out for booking, and even then we couldn't tell people to call back on Thursday. Cast Members have, and will be again, termed for giving away Codes, Dates, and other shady stuff.

The resorts will have a way to tell if a person smoked in the room, and not from a smoker's satturated clothing. I live with 2 smokers, and I reek at times of Doral because of them, so I know...

Thanks for the info Brayon
I have (since my last posting) recieved a phone call from WDW in response to an email I sent. Most of what the CM said, I had already learned, but the personal touch of a phone call was nice.

ALTHO...... I must say when i got home late from work and saw a message w/ Disney MGM Studios on the caller ID......I had hoped it was something about YOAMD! ;)
