You all know I'm dense :D: but I think I get this. Or is it just my dirty mind?leftcoaster wrote: A friend of mine's wife was pregnant several years ago. I said, "if it's a girl, name her Cherry."

Why do you think there are so many people named Cox and Dixon?
In family history we find name changes due to the similarity of the name to a not acceptable term like my ancestors in the 1600's were originally the "Co**" family.
In the census I saw a form that was for Joy and Ernest Slaughter. My uncle was Pleasant Ernest Carey. He was named for his father who was named for an uncle.

There's a doctor at the Kaiser clinic in Lahaina on Maui named Kimi Ouchi.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

A girl I went to high school with had a mother whose maiden name was Lois Lane. She married a guy who could probably relate; his name was Woody Allen.
Another classmate had a father named Fred(dy) Krueger. You know that had to make for some awkward moments when she brought home a new boyfriend...
Finally, my mother loved to tell folks about the funeral parlor in the town she grew up in: The Getter & Baker Funeral Home and Crematorium.
