However, what boggles my mind is that we (as an entire country) have decided to modify the entire infastructure..curbs, steps, etc to accomidate a wheelchair that is technologically 100 years in the past. With todays technology, robots, etc, it's not possible to mass market a wheel chair that can climb stairs?
I hear you there.Every week the city is cutting curbs, holding up traffic,so "somebody" in a wheelchair/ecv 'might' come by. Shit, years ago we "finally" got curbs and sidewalks in our neighborhood. Guess where almost everybody walks/rides? $3,500 down the shitter.
At least I can take it off my taxes "if" I ever sell my house.

LittleDollClaudia wrote:I have a question about that then. What if you added a raising platform on the end of the dock? You could make it so it could be removed as needed. It wouldn't be modifying the structure and would make guests happy. Or is that too logical?
Not sure what dock you are talking about.
The problem with the Disneyland Train Station is that one end has the bank, a narrow walk to the backstage area and bathrooms, the tracks, stroller/ECV rental area and then the main entrance for CMs and the kennel. No way can you put anything in that end. The other end has the City Hall, guest area, tracks and then the shop and package pick up area. No way to shove anythig in there like a elevator. Yep the only way would be to take out something and then change the bridge on one side to make it wide enough for guests in ECVS and idiot fencing.
I am lucky to be able to slowly get down but ouch cuss ouch cuss pant cuss.
A lot of Disneyland retro for disabled guests is that it is so packed with stuff that you cannot wedge anything else into an area.

The loading dock or platform at the train station. Where you get onto the train, that's what it's called. If Disney can make new attractions out of old ones, (Pooh, Honey, and Star Tours for example) then they can figure out how to make a raising platform work. :)

That is what I thought you meant but sometimes these threads go by so fast that you miss the discussion on something else. I will disagree on the train as I see no possibility. The rides are in areas that have some room and with pooh you just gut the building and put in the ride. Knotts did that with its Trolley ride, they ripped out the sets and put in dinosaurs. You could still see in the ceiling the old ride decor.

Seeing how Kingdom of the Dinosaurs has been replaced by a Johnny Rocket's, I wonder if that decor is still up there. But if I recall right, where KOD used to be, was originally the Knott's Bear-y Tales ride. Sigh....I can still smell the boysenberries, the amusing storyline....
