I will admit to my own sentimental moments, but generally, they've been when watching the teeniest guests in moments of pure belief that have absolutely nothing to do with whatever I've been doing at the moment... And I'll be one of the few to admit that the people who seem to live/breathe pixie dust make me want to slap them - a la Maynard... It's a job people, not a religious calling... And I'm not saying I was completely evil in the 11 years I was there. The first few years, you're intent on doing a good job, the "Disney" way, and after that, you're just intent on doing a good job and surviving the stupidity about you. I can think of a lot of days where I was on auto pilot wishing I was anywhere but there, but still smiling and doing a pretty damn good job of pretending to be enthused about being there...I can think of a few dozen of us on Book who got to be expert at giving a spirited rendition of the spiel on the 30th trip around any given day while mentally writing a grocery list while simultaneously ensuring that some kid didn't take a tumble into the canal because the guardians were not paying attention. I just got tired after a lot of years of the holier/Disney-er than thou attitude by certain c.m.'s who feel they are on some divine mission that the rest of the cast didn't know about. Granted there are some people who never should have been hired in the first place, but come on. Was that initial response for the benefit of higher-ups or others with "secret" knowledge? Am I cynical? Yep, but I'm also older and more experienced in the ways of the world than the majority of posters here and have little use for that extra something, much like Lou Grant in the first episode of Mary Tyler Moore..."I hate spunk!"

I used to work with one of those people that lived, breathed, and all that stuff pixie dust. . . at least that's what they called it. Turned out it was cocane. But that was a good name for it until they got caught and fired.

Our department refers to such CMs as being infected with "hyperperkiosis." It appears to be uncurable, but transferring them to either Disney University or Guest Relations seems to help....

ROFL!!! I had a roommate who dreamed of being a tour guide (she couldn't even get hired on a regular interview), but this woman had the temperment of Godzilla (and that was without PMS). I can't imagine her dealing with all those up with people personality types on a daily basis...

lol... My mom used to work there when I was little, and I had to go thru the same thing... tho it ain't all bad, I was able to see some very interesting pictures that my mom forgot to mention

I never met the dude and I never want to! I'm sick of hearing Maynard this and Maynard that! Who the hell cares? There are quite a few other thousand CMs who do as good if not better job than him i'm sure.

Monorail..... take a look at my location before reading this.
Parade crossing 10-7 and 10-8 calls, don't interrupt them, unless for severe emergency.
monorail red, leave it in the shop, the when something can't handle more than an hour of abuse, don't make it work.
someday, if you're feeling particularly bold, and unoffendable, go ask the guy at train central (mainstreet turnstyle) about the picture of the day the monorails worked, the editing is a little off, however, it more than illustrates the point.
i can't wait until the mark VII's come in, because those might actually run for more than an hour before having random auto e-stop in random zone, for unappearent reason. It was quite the suprise to hear monorail Blue calling in a problem today, and it actually helped me out, even more suprising, because i was going to delay a call to space out the trains, and i wound up making a delayed call anyway. and also, sorry for all the 10-20 calls today, we've thunder people back our way, and that's causing problems in that everyone has just been broken of the unecessary call habit, except them, and now the old guys have the new guys calling non-stop, and i don't have the balls to get on the radio and tell them to shut it.

Sweet Jesus! Disneyland's getting a new fleet of monorails!? Yay.
Haha, wasn't Monorail Blue the train that like...shoots parts out of its behind for no reason? If so, it doesn't suprise me it got called for problems.
But I'd have no clue why Red is freaking out...its been running kinda stable lately hasn't it? Haven't seen it have a problem since...about maybe a year ago when it had to get pushed out or something. :?
Don't even know what happened to Purple...haven't seen that thing in a loooong time.
