Re: New Presenteeism Policies...

I somewhat disagree with his comments on Presenteeism. I know a few people who have had to get their car repaired acquiring 6 points in the process because it took more than a day to get their car fix. I also know people who got 3 points for going home early or going to the hospital in an ambulance (which is totally lame). No other place I worked EVER had a policy where you get points or attendance discipline for leaving home sick when at least you came to work on time and worked part of your shift. If you combine any of the 2 items OR if you get sick real easily you're screwed on points and will get a written/verbal or fired.Someone crunched the numbers and realized you could be absent 39 times in a year and still not get disciplined, assuming you timed everything just right.
I figured out how to work their crappy attendance system. But, those who fit the above items are gonna get screwed. Of course, if you are gonna be lazy and not come to work at all then you deserve to be fired.
I agree with his comments on fixing morale and wages. Disneyland is making us work way too many hours and it is pissing everyone off. On top of that, schedule are a bunch of idiots who are going against union contract by not following senority or preference. They are giving new hires the morning shifts and the "A" cast members are closing which is not fair at all. We all had to work the shit late hours so they should have to too.
As for wages, Disneyland is not paying enough for the shit and work we have to endure day after day. It's no wonder no one is signing up to work at Disneyland. They can go to their local mall and get the same or better rate and not have to deal with getting a costume, fighting for parking or dealing with stupid shuttles as well as saving on gas.
I like his comments on APs... quit coming to the park LOL.What’s the single most important contributor to people being inside Disneyland’s gates? The annual pass programs. Everything about the AP is designed to get people to come again and again. This program is at odds with the current cast shortage. You want workers to be happy and stop having to work 60-hour workweeks? I have a solution for you, but it won’t be popular with the always-visiting locals. Need I say it out loud?
I agree with these statements totally.I believe it behooves management to make the workers happy. They will put up with anything—including presenteeism—if you make the place fun, rewarding, and worthwhile to work at. It’s going to take a lot more than rhetoric to convince them, too. It will take actions
