"That's offensive" you might say. That's your opinion. I'm offended, and bothered, by people who presume to know how to "fix" me.
I do "hate" these types of people, and not for their beliefs. I hate their self-important, know-it-all attitude and arrogance.
If the Nazis were handing out literature at Disney, I'm pretty sure most of us would agree that it is a bad thing. Who are you to decide that Christians, or Buddhists, or anyone elses' literature is any less offensive to me or anyone else?
Thats why I believe in the WDW policy in not accepting that behavior. I am just saying that I would not go bazerk and PO'd over a silly pamphlet. I prefer them handing me trash then me picking it up on the floor. I believe its only fair for everyone just to enjoy theme parks without trying to convert people. If someone tried to do that to me I would let them know that I have my own beliefs or that I share the same beliefs and tell the thanks or no thanks. Then share that Disney does not allow their practice.

If you really want to see religious zealots taking their religion and rightousness to a whole new level, check out the Wesboro Baptist Church Site (google). They are some freaks that I am surprised haven't made their rounds to disneyland or WDW yet. These sicko's actually intrude on military funerals and picket them.

Ah yes. Fred Phelps. Talk about a truly hateful man. Even some of his own children (the ones who got out from his influence) condemn him.

Or if the KKK were handing out literature, you can sure as shit bet that the ACLU would be screaming at Disney, "Why aren't you stopping these people?!?!"
Just like last year, the email was circulating around that Target was not allowing Salvation Army people to collect money in front of Target stores. The TRUTH was that Target was not allowing ANYONE to collect money or hand out literature in front of any Target stores.
I've never seen any group hand out literature in DL or WDW, but I agree with what someone who posted earlier said: if it's handed out inside the park(s), and people don't want it, the first chance they can they are going to "lose it" and let it go flying into the bushes.

I dropped some change into a Salvation Army kettle once and the guy manning it said, "Thanks a lot buddy, you ruined my soup."

As a card-carrying member and fomer director of the ACLU, permit me to point out that you've got it all wrong.
Disney is private property, just like your living room. Just as you can decide what topics of discussion are appropriate in your living room, Disney can decide what topics are appropriate in their parks.
The ACLU would step in only if it were a branch of *government* that was attempting to stifle discussion in a *public* place. Reedy Creek Improvement District and Main Street USA don't qualify.

Ok. Point taken.
How about if someone who the KKK specifically descriminated against, told a reporter, and it made the 6 o'clock news?
Would not Al Sharpton fly out to Anaheim, and hold a press conferance on South Harbor Blvd claiming "Disney allows this to happen?"
Zazu, I do not want to get into a civil liberties or descrimination, or any other arguement with you.
All I am saying is that either ALL groups are allowed to pass out literature, or NO group is allowed to pass out literature.
But it never works out that way. People start passing out literature and no one "appears" to be offended. Then more groups start passing out literature, or "accosting" other guests or CMs. But if a perceived "hate" group starts passing out literature, it becomes a big blow up.
*NOTE: I am NOT a member of the KKK, nor do I support their philosphies.

Yup, that sort of things happen all the time. Note the Southern Baptist's recently ended "boycott" of Disney due to Gay Days and other perceived offenses.

Good, me neither. Just wanted to point out that the ACLU is concerned with governmental censorship, not with private enterprises exercizing *their* rights.

I agree with you 100% (and so does the ACLU) when it comes to activities in public places or controlled by the government. Private property is different though.

Right, so Disney uses a non-biased system: anything a guest complains about is then banned. If nobody complains, then there's no problem to correct. Simple, huh?

Never thought otherwise. ;)

Now when I worked at Disney there was a sign on the auto plaza at the Studios, I'm not sure about the other parks, that said that Distrubition of Literature is not permitted in the parks.
