Amen to that... I think the company needs to seriously rethink the "benefits" they offer to CM's... i mean, yeah you get into the park for free... and you can sign your loved ones in...

...but what good is that when you're working 50+ hours a week, 6 days a week?

i, for one, want nothing to do with the park on my day off...

furthermore, i don't think we're getting paid enough to maintain the company's current courtesy standards... i get told that i'm being rude or unreasonable nearly every day by guests who are fed up with the "guest control" or safety guidelines i have to attempt to gracefully enforce.

i mean, i try... and usually succeed...

...but sometimes i wonder if it's all worth it.

oh well... i'll just stick with my current plan, and throw on a smile while i look for cute little children to make my day. (that's not supposed to sound perverted... making magic for kids is the only reason i'm still working for disney)

My only gripe about attendence is this....

I am finishing up my degree and to do so I needed to take summer school. Yes I know that I need to provide at least 5 days availability to Disney. Hell I can provide 7. I've asked on my preferences to my scheduler twice for Fridays off because I have summer school Mon-Thurs and want a REAL day off. (OMG a real day off? do those exhist?) So last week and this week my day off that I wanted was given (No RDO request) hell I even got two days off this week (which I want cause of summer school). So on the new schedule....thursday off.

Ok, now I have the location I want to work...but is it so hard with that stupid scheduling program they use (the one that scheduled me as an event lead).

So you scheduling me to a point that I have already been ill once this summer, still recovering from that. And you expect me to be at work when I am scheduled, and I have to attend summer school (which is like adding another 16 hours a week to my workweek). Yeah ok...

That was my plan... if you're over 14 it's a lot tougher to get me to care about you.

Awwww - Stduck. Scheduling bites. They have always bitten. There were certain people back in my day there who really seemed to enjoy holding that sort of power over the CM's and making them rot for months in a location they knew the CM hated. And special occassions - you can forget about personal special occassions. Despite asking for ADO's months in advance, they wanted to make my bridesmaids work the morning of my wedding (at least they granted vacation time to me and my husband - they legally couldn't deny that). I get the feeling scheduling will still bite in the future.

*be grateful you're not in my ss class - we are supposed to be doing 3/4 hours of homework a night, but if you want to do it right, it's more like 6/7 hours. I am stressed beyond belief. So if you ever see me freaking by the 49'er statue about 11:00 a.m., you'll know why!

Ugh!

On my new schedule, I'm not only scheduled 63+ hours, but they scheduled me during the only time in the week when I'm unavailable. Christ, people -- I'm available six and a half days a friggin' week, so how come I can't have that one half day to myself? I have school for chrissake! I'm not going to forego my master's degree so I can go wave a f***ing flashlight around!

And therein lies the problem.

If you force a situation between someone's future, livelyhood, family or
other lifelong priorities, take a wild guess which path they will choose?

Choose wisely.

Oh, and someone in my area was just suspended today for a no call / no-show. Her power went out and she had a 06:45 opening shift. So watch out for that. Can you just FEEL all of this magic?

There's this stupid rule that only one person from our department (less than 100 CMs) can have a vacation at a time. And right now the person with the 3rd highest seniority (25+ years) is taking a 3 week vacation, in the middle of the busy season. Meanwhile another person who has been around more than 10 years who has to attend her only daughter's wedding got her vacation denied. I got my vacation denied to attend my own graduation a couple of weeks ago because of this same person's vacation, and I ended up calling in.

There's no reason why, with all the new hires we're getting, we can't have more people on vacation. My point is, they've been telling us at these presenteeism sessions that they want to work with us, but their actions contradict their words.

Of course, I know the real reason behind a lot of this stuff, but I'd rather not discuss it in a public forum.

All she did was hire in 12 years after the person who's on vacation right now. I don't see why only one person can be on vacation right now considering how many CMs we have at the moment. I can understand if there were only 40 or so in our department but I think we have about twice that.
