im sorry, but i need to tell all of you cms. you get nothing but respect from me. i have been going to, well wdw more specifically, but both disney parks since i was a child. so much so that it is a part of my life, and to go back to the parks is one of the few ways i can go and actually, sort of, relive a small piece of so many great times in my life. the parks are fun of course, and full of nostalgia... anyway, the bottom line is, i wouldnt feel that way or have had such great memories if it wasnt for great CMs like you folks.
so keep it up, and thank you.

I don't remember who said it about movie stills, that is correct 100%.

I grew up working in theater, my mother still does. Sometimes I get to play assassitant costumer for shows and I get to see the rehersals. I also get to see unfinished costumes and sometimes have to play model (I did a lot when I was younger my mom costumes youth theater). So I see a lot of those back stage stuff. I tell my friends "It's great wait till you see it" but that is about it.

So in the arguement made by PrincessCinderAlly do performers love when people watch rehersals? You bet! In the right circumstances. I was in the marching band and we would do thursday night rehersals. It was great to have the parents out there screaming and yelling for you, like a real tournament.

But back to the "arguement" about CMs watching the rehersals? Well I think from an Attractions/Guest Control point of view its helpful. Like the running crew in a show. You need to know what's going to happen so you can do your part to make the show run smoothly.

The Annual Passholder Light Magic preview.

As I recall, the performers were booed and disrespected by a throng of APs who all asked for their $10 back after the show. All because it wasn't the Electrical Parade...
From what I hear, they hit the AP holders for $10 each and then Pressler took the mic and welcomed everybody to a "dress rehearsal" when they were expecting a performance.

"Rehearsal."

I'd want my money back too.

I feel kind of conflicted about this. As a performer, I didn't like people who had nothing to do with the production watching an early rehearsal just because things are so messy when you're still working on blocking, choreography, music, etc. Once a show is frozen, and you're still in rehearsals, then it's not so bad. Everyone knows what they're doing at that point, and you don't have the director screaming cut every five minutes. Then I could sort of relax and gage audience reaction - what's working, what do they seem bored by, do I need to ramp it up - do a lot of us need to ramp it up?

Last night we got to go to the dress for the Pixar Block party. It was kind of hard sitting there with the kids asking why they couldn't go on rides, even though everything was lit up. Sorry, kiddo, no one's there to make it work... Anyway, it was all families and friends with cameras, and it was really enjoyable. We got a good sense of how the show/parade will be - even if the streamers/nerf balls were missing. The kids loved it, and since the thing was being filmed, I didn't feel any compunction about taking the digital camera out of the bag and taking pictures of the show. However, I don't think I would post them online just yet, because they still were working things out. We heard that Tuesday night didn't go so well. I'm not one of those people that has to go to MP or wherever with my brag photos and say "neener neener - I got to see it and you didn't..." The main reason we went is that my husband was subcontracting on the Monsters Inc unit and he wanted pictures of "his" float. Having said that, the thing was so huge, we could not get one photo that captured the entire float in one frame - it's bigger than the old King Putt float from The World According to Goofy parade - and that one almost mowed me down when I was doing GC in Matterhorn way. I wonder if this one will sink in the slurry when it's 105° in the middle of August?

I won't argue that Disney did a poor job of marketing that event as a "preview" performance; honesty never was Pressler's strong suit (what do you want from a retail mind?). They did, however, learn their lesson, and have not done that since. The fact that APs are still trying to get sneak peeks when they showed us that they don't appreciate it is strange to me.

And though I don't begrudge anyone who wanted a refund if they felt lied to, booing the performers (who had nothing to do with the planning of the event or the fact that the Electrical Parade was gone -- they just worked their tails off to try to entertain a hostile crowd) went way too far.

no problem ;) thank you for reading my post.

I understand that this is a heated issue and I will most likely get flamed for posting over here but, I want you the CM's that work so hard to make the magic happen know that there are guests out there (and on the boards) that really appreciate what you do everyday.
Disneyland is you job, everyone has good and bad days at work and should be allowed to vent if they need to. I am glad that you have this forum to vent on, then hopefully you feel better and the magic is still there for you too.

PrncssCinderAlly-
I am sorry that someone invaded what should have been a safe place for you to vent, Lord knows we vent to on the other boards too.
(BTW, I have not seen the pics but I can't wait to see the 'show' when I'm there in July)

I just wish that everyone could realize that we all love Disneyland or we would not be having this discussion (on both boards).

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

a very happy guest thanks to the wonderful CM's

SGT wins hands down!!! The quality of discourse here is so much more *realistic* - at least we all know what's goin' on, don't we? ;)
