Mansion is blouses and skirts now???!!! It was dresses forever and a day...
Well, I've looked over all the posts and you guys are soooooooooo lucky you're too young to have worked at the Park in the late 70's and early 80's for the horrid, gawd-awful polyester double knit that used to populate Tomorrowland - my friends working the old Monsanto ride complaining about the pants crotches that were cut so low they were down to the knees (this was the girl's pants). And the double ugly old Monorail uniforms - navy and light blue with this funky box-like hat - ugh.
BTW - I *liked* the old Tiki dress - if you got one a size too big it was sooooo comfy in the summer - that was the only sleeveless costume around - and sandals were legal with that one. Who wants to be dressed like a pirate in 3 or 4 layers when you can wear a nice cool dress (even if it was orange - which is my least favorite color). You want inconvenient - the old pirate pants used to zip on the left hip, which was a pain in the ass to get to under the vest and belt if you were in a big hurry. The good thing about the old pirate vests and blouses was that they were lower cut, so you could at least show your assets by not pulling the drawstring all the way if you had a good figure, and really look like a girl ;) - a questionable costume was the winter Matterhorn - those stupid doubleknit polyester ski pants that only looked good if you were a size 8 or smaller - fortunately, when I was always stuck in Fantasyland, I was a size 6 (those were the days!).
And the abso-friggen-lutely worst, ugliest costumes as far as I was concerned were the old Videopolis guest control monstrosities we had to wear for Beauty and the Beast - bright pink, bright turquoise, bright yellow and bright blue. I think they were based on 1930's ushers uniforms, which were cute in an old fashioned way, but damn these things were cut too baggy to look good on anyone, and I defy anyone to show me the person (aside from Barbie) who looks really good in Pepto Bismol Pink.
