Hey! I resemble that remark!hobie16 wrote:Anyone who wants to work those hours has to be a little off. Plus there's the chronic loss of vitamin D.

I've worked the night shift for 20+ years. I dislike the sun, and avoid confonting it whenever possible (except when it is filtered through pixie dust when I am on vacation). :D: And 5am is the correct time to go shopping. the only SGs I have to deal with, blocking aisles are the folks stocking shelves. ;)

One summer in college I worked as a toll collector on the Massachusetts Turnpike. The plaza I worked at actually wasn't that bad because it was a large one that had a variety of duties with toll collection, ticket distribution and 50-cent tolls depending on which ramp you were driving on.
Most of my shifts were 6:30A-2:30P or 2:30P-10:30P, but a couple times I pulled the overnight 10:30P-6:30A. Trust me, you saw some *really* crazy people come driving through overnight. (One full-time overnight collector said that he routinely had strippers heading home around 2-3AM that would flash him.)
Boy do I have some SD (Stupid Driver) stories from that summer....

I've known and worked with somebody from here since almost day one with Disney but didn't even realize it. HarryFromMarydelDE works for Main Street East like I do though he only works in the Confectionery and I go wherever I'm sent. The day before yesterday I started thinking that there was somebody here who works on Main Street in my area so I did some searching and I was right. I confirmed it yesterday but we didn't have time to talk SGT as he was busy doing things in the Confectionery and I was working in the Chapeau all day. He did tell me though that he's been very busy with working a lot of overtime and that's why he hasn't visited here lately.

Re: I've been busy but I made it to Orlando alright.
Had my Basics class today, my word what a boring time. Over half the stuff that was talked about I do naturally as a guest, let alone as a CM.
I had my first missing child today. This morning I was working in Expo Hall when this couple started to look around for their kid and getting panicky as they couldn't find her. I find out what the kid is wearing and immediately began notifying the other CMs in the area to look for the kid. Expo Hall is a big building and I wanted to get as many eyes looking as possible. I head down past the rear Photopass counter and ask a Dream Squad CM I passed if she had seen the kid. She had, apparently the kid went through the curtain into the private Princess meeting area (that's why the Dream Squad CM was there). I immediately ran back up front and found the parents on the front porch panicking. I told them their kid was safe and handed them off the to Dream Squad CM who had followed me up front. I then told the other CMs who I had alerted the kid was found. I knew the kid probably hadn't gotten far and was likely still in the building but if she hadn't been found when I came back out from the rear Photopass area I would have grabbed the Nextel and alerted my management. All in all the kid was probably missing for only 2 minutes or so but it felt longer at the time and I know it felt a LOT longer for the parents.
