Oooooh, honey, let's get you a Mickey and me a Minnie to celebrate this trip, and we'll see what they have next trip, just one each a trip ok?
1 year later...OMG Look at that pin! I must have it! We can go to Hollywood to the Soda Fountain to get that one.....oh and did I mention we should get some traders from the Disney Store before our next trip to DL this week? Let's look at the CM lanyards for that pin my co-worker wants, too. She'll get me a pin when SHE goes in 2 weeks...Oh, and avoid that one Pin Shark
he'll make you sell your soul for a Sebastian....
Yeah I know that feeling!

Its too bad that the pin thing has "taken off" at first if was fun, We got a bunch of them given to us for booking trip packages and so forth, but last time we were at DTD we noticed these crazed pin traders that seemed to be consumed with them. I mean, get a frigging life!! Its funny because we saw one guy that had five or six books of them, and he saw our segway ones when we walked by and was on the verge of becomeing an SG. He asked us several times if we wanted to trade!!
Later at EPCOT we saw security escorting a pin trader from the stand between the two innovations area! Guess he was trying to do something ilegal (shoplifting?) I have heard that it has become a problem at some parks, when they have to start watching for pin traders that rip off the kids, by trading worthless ones for hard to get ones, and so on! They need to ban these people for LIFE!!! basically stealing from kids!
It still can be a LOT of fun, if you don't take it too, too seriously. It is fun to meet other people with pins and trade and talk to them about where they are from and how they got into trading and Disney, etc...etc...And you can find some relly purty pins or something you have been looking for.
I avoid the big sharks, only once in a while will I play the game, *Buy me this pin from the rack and I will trade you this pin.* One guy at DtD DL was doing that and he actually was a pretty nice guy. He wanted some of the new Easter pins and he had some great traders and I had no problem buying a couple of the new Easter releases and trading them for what I wanted. It is the ones that give you a list of 5 pins and say "Buy me these FIVE and I will give you this ONE!!" I have a problem with those pin sharks. But a pion for a pin...? You would do that anyway. It is only because I REALLY wanted a particular pin that I could not find elsewhare except for sale on Feebay.

Each member of our family has a theme or two they collect and its fun to get pins for each other. Sister its evil women, dad is Motorcycles and boats or some classic stuff. The other half its Monsters Inc and Nightmare stuff, me its lions and transportation related pins. People look at me odd when I have all sorts of monorails and bus pins, byplanes and boats, trains and trollys ahhhhhhh YUM
We also do milestone type pins for rides we truly love, tours we took, resorts we stay at. There is normally a back story or theme to each trip so we look for something to go with that. The last trip we had a couple of families ask us about our lanyards and pins so we just gave them some of ours to start the off on trading and collecting it was SOOOOO wonderful to see the family light up and get all excited over a couple of 10 buck pins :)
Yeah, we collect the pins from our trip, tours and any that might be released the day we are there. I also look for Beauty and the Beast and Belle, Ariel, Bambi and Park pins. Anthing with Walt is wonderful! And of course the mighty Wart Hog. I LOVE the Wart Hog! Pumbaa!!!!!!!! He is sooooo cute....
I have a huge collection that I am slowly weeding out to keep the ones I want and trade away the ones I don't and the dupes that I have. So I will be taking my pin bag to DL and WDW on our trips. Need to find new homes for some of these pins.
