You know, I always like spending a few days doing really hot things; cook in a hot kitchen, spend a lot of time in a sauna, get out an electric blanket or heating pad, hot water bottle, lots of hot tea (or Theraflu)... Just sweat out the sickness. Makes me feel better in a couple of days, and with all the zinc I keep on hand just in case (I got swabs, sprays, tabs...) I never get *real* sick. Not in a few years at least... Those of us with crappy insurance can't really afford to get *real* sick too often, anyway...

Edited to add: I'm a crap pirate. I've got rum, and it's sitting idly in it's pretty bottle up on top of my fridge rather than in my hand... I drink my rum (captain morgan private reserve) mixed with coke and I don't wanna do the caffeine thing right before bed...

I remember when I was stationed in Japan, if we felt a cold coming on we would go the the sauna baths and set in the sauna for an hour, then come out and soak in a hot tub the size of a wading pool, while being served ice cold Kirin Beer!!! Now THAT is the way to fight a cold!!

Damn computer!

Last night I must have picked up a virus somewhere. My computer started randomly rebooting on me, rebooting often enough I couldn't run my virus scanner. Tried running safe mode and had some problem getting into it. When I did get into it I tried running my virus scanner and got an error telling me the database was destroyed. Damn virus must have destroyed it.

Tried booting a Knoppix Boot CD so I can back up my bookmarks and what-not but couldn't get it to boot. Thankfully most of my files are safe on my second hard drive. Tried running Windows Setup and I keep getting errors of different kinds. The first time I was able to install Windows apparently successfully but couldn't get Windows Update to run without crashing. I'm going to have to take the computer into the shop to get it working in a few days.

Thankfully I have my server PC I can run my boot CD on and get online with.

Where do you take your computer for repair? I've been looking for a reputable place that won't charge me a zillion bucks for a "tune-up."
