Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Just wanna say that for this exact reason, my daughter and I always carry a trial size deodorant in our bag at the park for a refresh. Seriously, no one needs to smell that. Is it that hard to figure out? So you won't be smelling us, :)Rob562 wrote:I hear ya... Was just at Universal last week, and I couldn't wait to move beyond the pre-show holding room for Disaster... Someone in my immediate viscinity REALLY needed to deodorant.
And while I understand sometimes toward the end of a hot day deodorant effectiveness can diminish, this was at about 11:30AM... Yeesh!

I personally think that people who smell can smell themselves, but I don't think it's as bad to them as it is to us cause they are used to it. Or maybe they become immune.
I'm always paranoid when I'm at the gym or after being outside. I usually can smell myself before even my husband does.
I'm addicted to deodorants etc. I live in a place with a similar summer climate to Orlando. I like to compare going outside in Oklahoma during the summer to trying to swim through microwaved mayonnaise. I do think it's probably a little worse in Florida though from the times I have been.
Anyway back to my deodorant addiction. There is this stuff called certain dri. You can get it at wal-mart out here. They have a roll-on and a regular bar deodorant. The roll on is the best! it works better than clinical strength deodorants that companies are marketing.
I use an antibacterial soap to get rid of bacteria (that's what causes the odor) and then I put certain dri on at night time (it will work for up to 72 hours) and then a deodorant with 19% aluminum in the morning. All the clinical strength deodorants have 20% aluminum in them... that's why they charge $7 for it. However you can get some mitchum deodorants for about $4 that have 20% in them. So $4 for certain dri and then $4 for mitchum or another deodorant (I prefer the girly smelly kinds :D ) and then you are fresh as a daisy!
I would recommend certain dri to anyone who has to be outside for a long time in any type of heat! It is water proof too, so you don't have to put it on after every shower (though I do because like I said, paranoid and addicted to deodorant).
Anyway tonight I went to an outdoor barbecue in 90 degree weather and still smell delicious!

I thought they didn't let planes take off in extreme heat because the air was too thin to support the plane?

it depends on the plane, and its air density problem.felinefan wrote:I thought they didn't let planes take off in extreme heat because the air was too thin to support the plane?![]()
in higher heat, it requires a longer takeoff run, sometimes much longer than the runway!
I remember flying into pheonix in a company plane (citation) and the pilot saying that it was at the point where the 737's couldn't take off.
we didn't take off till later that evening, but the tempature was still over 90, even after sunset!!

My sister and I carry small size sticks of deodorant when we are out and about. If you start smelling ripe, put that stuff on. If you don't, you will want to gag when you smell other SG from a distance.
